FC-400 & DP-DMX4B

I have a FC-400 controller and 2 DP-DMX4B dimmer packs. when ruuning in series, they seem to work for a while then begin "wigging out" I heard somewhere that the loop must be closed. No sure how to do that and if thats even the problem. Need help!

How many feet of cable are you running? (A dmx terminator is normally recommended after a 100ft run)

Does this happen with just one dimmer pack connected?

Have you tried different DMX cables?

I am using 2 dimmers in series and regular mic cables, is that the problem...should I get special cables? The cables are less than 100' each, going into the first one from the foot controller, then to the second one from the output of the first one. The problem occurs whether or not there are 2 dimmers or just 1.
