Quick intro...female full time mobile DJ, just joined from across the pond (Northern Ireland) and I have a wee problem with my new lights.

I'm the proud owner of two Revo 4s...so set about DMXing them today on the rig. Over here the Revo 4s are very new, so I had to write the fixture file myself. Well..... I had full control of them, got them singing and dancing ....but not together! When they are doing patterns they are synchronised, as soon as I set them to sound to light on chase patterns they're not synchronised....and basically it looks pretty odd when they're doing different patterns. To get me through this weekends gigs I've master and slaved them (but then I can't turn them on and off when I want)until I can come up with a solution....or some kind person on here can point me in the right direction. Help?????

First, welcome.

Now, onto business.

OK, with master/slave mode, the lights do what you want, but you lack the ability to control them on/off. You can, but not directly. Wait for it, and read on.

When you go into DMX mode and you go "sound active", what happens is that each fixture is behaving as it should. You have two fixtures with 2 microphones acting independently of each other. There is NOTHING wrong with the fixtures. They are working properly and as they are supposed to.

Closest you're gonna get is to make something in the FX generator utilizing both lights, while using MyDMX.

When you're running macros/patterns, you're entering them at once with the same time/speed value, so of course they are going to usually behave syncronized. It's a timing thing.

Back to sound active in DMX mode: again, two lights in their own sound active universe. There is no master/slave, both respond to the music independently. I know I said this already. I just felt it deserved repeating.

Master/slave and DMX are mutually exclusive. You can't have it both ways.

You may wish to purchase a dimmer pack that can be set to switched mode(on/off) and use that to turn on/off your Revo 4's.
Thanks for the replies guys....it actually made sense what you were saying about the sound to light and them having independant microphones. I don't use My DMX.....I use a program called freestyler. I've never had a play with 'my dmx' so don't know how it differs from mine. Not heard of a UC3....but I'm borrowing a CA8 for the weekend so that I can black out etc.
MyDMX is PC software(XP, Vista, WIn7) that allows you to control your lights via DMX.

The UC3 is a controller mentioned in your Revo4 manual. It's not a DMX controller, but a simple plug in unit that goes into a dedicated port on ideally the first Revo4(if you're doing master/slave stuff). The UC3 I think has a blackout button. It's not DMX, but many ADJ fixtures support this controller.

Keep having fun.
