DMX Operator 384 won't upgrade the software

Not sure where to put this post. anyway here it is .I tried to upgrade the software per the instructions on the website download and the controller will not go into usb mode. i hold down the program button and power up and it just does the slandered power up. I did get it used but the previous owner only used it a couple of times. What do I do? I want to use this as a MIDI controller for DMX 3.0.
