I HAVE PROBLEM WITH MY PS2 IN THE BACK WHEN IS GETTING HOT START MAKING DISTORTION ANY SUGESTIONS

Dizuga just FYI the PS2 will get very hot in the back of the unit and that is considered "normal" operation from ADJ.
Before calling tech support have you tried checking whether your mixer/amp setup eg. test different mixer channel, check phono-line switch on channel, perhaps you have too much gain on mixer/amp? Have you tried connecting headphones to the back of the PS, do you get the same results? Have you read the manual?
I know its only simple stuff but it could save you a bit of grief. Good luck.

Also, is it with 'store bought' CDs, or CD-Rs (burns) that it happens?

Right again Billabong, poorly recorded CDRs can give you that "wooly - underwater" sound.
