Dimming of LED lighting

Dimmable LED Light bulb can be dimmed at the lamp. So you could put it in any circuit that has a dimmer and you won't have strobing and other issues that happen when you draw power from the lamp.

An LED dimmable switch does the same thing, but at the switch. It reduces the power going to the lamp, thus the dimming curve is compacted into a much smaller voltage. If you do this you can only use LED bulbs in that circuit. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, I Thought this might be the case but needed some conformation, I want to start equip my home with LED bulbs many I would like to be able to dim, I have some bulbs that are sold as dimmable that work well with a conventional dimming switch. I have other places where I would like to dim one then one light at a time that I had planed on install LED dimming switch but was not sure if I still needed the more expensive dimmable LED bulbs. I take it from your reply that a standard LED bulb will dim properly if I use a LED capable dimming switch. I see that most of the LED switches I have looked at are backward compatible with the incandescent lights as well as florescent bulbs. If I have misunderstood your reply please correct me. thanks again
