I recently bought 4 Deluxe Scan 250's and run them linked (master/slaves). I ordered them because they looked great in the demo clip, plus the durable casing its in and the brightness of the bulb, so on. BUT now I've used all 4 of them together only twice and downgraded my setup to only using 2 because i've had power failure issues at halls/venues. So i'm looking at the Dynasty Scans.
My typical events/partys include mainly company party (like xmas partys), weddings, medium sized to large sized teen dances. So usually i need them to cover just a 20 x 40 dance floor, and sometimes i gotta cover a 100 x 100 dance floor. I always look for 2 outlets on separate circuits, 1 for sound, 1 for lights. Unfortuneatly the Deluxe Scans require 5A of power each, thats 20A of power total, typical outlet on a 110 gives us only 15A. So I've had power losses and dead dance floor a couple times. I really dont want to invest in 220 power distributor, because some halls dont have that outlet, so I cant depend on it and then have to only use 2 lights when i'm limited to power.
They both look good, but I like the build quality of the Deluxe Scan, brightness of the bulbs, and quickness and quality of the light show they do.
BUT i like the lightness and the less power consumption (2A per fixture) of the Dynasty Scan.
I not convinced yet on the durability of the mirror moving parts on the Dynasty Scan, especially that thin white string that moves the the mirror up and down.
Has anyone had experience with both? Has anyone had breakdown issues yet with the mirror motor parts on the Dynasty Scan? Are both mirror motor parts just as durable on the Deluxe Scan and the Dynasty Scan???
PLUS, the dynasty scan demo clip doesnt show much of it in action as a set of four. Do the mirrors on the dynasty scan move just as quick as the deluxe scan?

PS... my budget is for any of those, i'm not into LED lights, too expensive still and no gobos.

While I do not have experience with either of these fixtures, I'd have to say that the Deluxe Scan is probably the lowest wattage you'd want to go for a lamp. Considering most of your events will still have residual room lighting, the Dynasty's 150 Watt lamp will no cut it at all.

The only 150W fixture that might work would be the AccuSpot 150, which has a discharge lamp.

I certainly understand your problems with power. Usually in halls and venues with limited power, we've had to run hundreds of feet of extensions just to make it happen (coupled with Pars, Intelligents, PA, and stage power).

Usually a 15A circuit or two can work, but the typical problem is that the circuit is not totally dedicated to you. It's probably on the same circuit as other utilities in the venue. Also, many halls tend to put up Christmas lights for fun, but those can be circuit hogs as well. If there is any way to eliminate other usages on the circuit, do it.

In some cases however, the venue is just not able to support the type of equipment we use, and we're left in a pinch.
Tonight I got to use the Dynasty scan system and it worked great. It was a teen dance in a gym somewhere between 75x75 to 100x100 (i didnt have my measuring tape, haha) set on a stage, with the lights off, just ambient dim lights from the stage, the pop selling area and the main door that was left open.
The main differences between the Deluxe Scan and the Dynasty Scan is...
Dynasty Scan is about 50% slower in mirror movement, just little bit less bright, but the built-in program that goes to music when linked together is very fast paced in gobo and color changing, which compensates for the slower mirror motor... making the light show seem to move really quickly, and also giving the impression of strobing effect.
The deluxe scan mirror move across the room really fast! but the built in program doesnt change color and gobos as quickly.
I like them both just as much when it comes to the light show in a set of 4.
BUT i still dont like the look of the Dynasty Scans mirror motors plastic components versus Deluxe Scans REAL motors, and build quality looks much better on the Deluxe Scan of course. But, for my main concern... THE POWER, i like how I dont have to worry about blowing a circuit with 4 Dynasty Scans (8A total draw), as opposed to Deluxe Scan 20A requirement in a set of 4, which is a party killer when it comes to venues not equipped with enough circuit breakers.
CAN ANY ONE WITH DYNASTY SCAN EXPERIENCE TELL ME IF THE MIRROR MOTOR IS HELLA DELICATE???
