Hi I have just downloaded the June 2011 version of the software and so far think it is fantastic - I have just designed my stage setup for an important gig in September.

Is there a way to add fixtures that are not shown in the library? for example I have 2 Kam Ilink Blue's (lasers) and a Kam Laserscan but I can not find a 'profile' for them. There are also other lights I can't find but hopefully any replies to this will enable me to sort them out later.

Aplogies if this question has been answered befroe - I have had a look through some posts but it was not that clear to me as I am a real newbie on DMX !

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Paul

Hi James,

I hope you don't mind me asking these questions as I am new to this and eager to learn !

I downloaded the ILinkBlue profile - no problems but all it does on my 'stage' is show one straight beam none of the other channels have any effect - is this normal for a laser in the visuliation?

I also downloaded the Kam Litobar profile but this does nothing at all no matter what slider I move.

Finally is it possible to create my own 'profile' for a specific light or do i have to always download them from somewhere? if so where?

Thanks for your help

Paul
Hi Paul.

No, lasers are not represented accurately or even hardly at all in the 3D. sorry. This is a software limitation. In fact I don't think even the higher end 3D visualization softwares like WYSIWYG can handle Lasers in their 3D.

The Lito bar does nothing in the 3D or nothing on the actual fixture? also the lito bar has a multple segment RGB channels. The profile only has the last 3 channels (RGB) set too be actual RGB segments. This is also a profile/software limitation. The .ssl format was coded originally to only allow a single profile to have only ONE 3 channel assignment of RGB. There is a work around for this if you are interested.

Yes you can create your own profile at any time and use the same program I use to create profiles. go to your C drive and find the My DMX folder and open it. Then look for a small moving head icon that has a name of Scanlibrary.exe or scanlib.exe and that is the program I use to create profiles. I do have a starters tutorial that you can download here: http://db.tt/rTv25few
but you must download the video file. For some reason the video in the browser only plays 5 minutes. it is a 20 min video.
Sincerely,
Hi James many thanks for you replies and help. I will look through the video in the next day or two and hopefully will be able to add some of the lights I need. In relation to the litobar it does nothing in the 3d bit. I haven't actually received the full package from my supplier yet so cannot test the actual lights until this arrives hopefully on Wednesday.

As soon as I have tested I will post back.

Thanks again
