Hi guys,

this isnt exactly ADJ related, but since there are so many people here, maybe someone can help...

I came over a "yoyo elevator" yesterday on some used gear site.

From what I could gather, you would attach it as a fixture to your truss/ceiling mount, and then attach a fixture onto that. It would then "yoyo" the fixture up and down from a cable...

Who makes these devices?
Are there fairly cheap ones? (Like 50lbs capacity or less)
Do any of these have DMX control? (Of course, with a dead-men's switch)
Where can I find these?
How much is the average cost?
Experiences?

Thanks so much!

I'd trust it ok!

It isnt some skimpy piece of equipment guys, it is real heaavy duty stuff... The same kind used in rock concerts...

The one I saw wasnt a CM Lodestar, but I guess it would be in the same league (these babies hold trussing in all tours you are likely to have watched, and have capacity of upto 2tons!!!!)

The stuff is pretty good, I'd put a HES xSpot and stand below! LOL!
I know what you are talking about. They're not called yoyo elevators they they are truss towers with chain motors and are soecialle deisugned to move up and down and the hold up to like 40 lare moving fixtures. Sea World here in SD just got a nice new stage setup and they have these. It is really cool seeing the towers moving up and down during the show. Now I understand!

Hi Amp!

Actually, 3 different things exist:

1) a Yoyo elevator, it just pulls a fixture up with a steel cable.
2) a chain Hoist (used to pull truss up and down)
3) a tower hoist, brings a whole tower up or down (where as the chain hoist will bring any point, allowing you to have a hinged truss)...

I cant post pics here, but you can search the net for "CM Lodestar" for a pic... they are really small! like the size of a showbox roughly... really nice!
