I just got a wireless Logitech mouse over the weekend. It's gone one of those really tiny USB dongles that are "set and forget". It doesn't stick out THAT much.

Anyhow, I was using it at my show over the weekend. My lighting rig consisted of MyDMX, 3 25-foot DMX cables, 2 LTS-2 stands(no T-bars) and 2 Mega Panels with ADJ O-Clamps and a DMX Terminator.

I went through some color washes, and then was playing with macros and sound active modes. I'm very pleased with these fixtures in 7 channel mode. I have yet to test the strobing function, but I might soon.

Anyow, my biggest problems was with the mouse, I think. It seemed the mouse wasn't really giving up the channel. I would let go and it would still move the channel sometimes(often). I was trying to match macro and sped settings and I just couldn't get things to stay. Very annoying.

Is anyone else using a wireless mouse with MyDMX? Are you having problems as well? What brand and model? I wonder how much of this might be tied to all the 802.11x traffic. I'm going to try this at home too and see if there are any issues. I don't use any 2.4Ghz cordless phones(only cell phone these days) but 3 wifi access points: 1 802.11a, 1 802.11b/g, and one that is 802.11 A/B/G/N, so I know I'm tossing about more than my fair share of 2.4Ghz signalling in the region. That and at least 3-6 laptops on the wifi all the time AND my ISP is 802.11b, so I got a radio on the roof.

Hey Chris,

I use a wireless mouse(Logitech VX Nano) and wireless ultra mini illuminated keyboard to trigger myDMX (laptop) w/no problems at all and using another wireless (Logitech M205) mouse to control Tractor Pro on another machine (HP Slimline).

Wireless USB Illuminated Keyboard:

I know - I know about the pearls of battery operated products. I use fresh batteries on each job w/spares on hand to replace. You can order hard-wired ones too. I assign scenes to a key and operate myDMX on a hand held wireless illuminated mini keyboard! I print out my scenes on paper and I can also walk around changing scenes (good to 30') and enjoy the show too.

Hope this helps.
I had problems again at another show at the same venue.

For my big show in 2 weeks, I don't have the luxury or ability to drag a cable down from the doghouse to the area I intend to have the mouse and/or keyboard on the audio console. I'll just have to keep tabs on things.

Thanks for your input. I'm wondering if it might be tied to a buttload of traffic on the 2.4Ghz band. I had a show on the 7th and no issues with lighting.

Right now I'm into rying something new for me. Since almost all the techs working with me have iPhones, I want to utilize some VOIP-type client so I can broadcast onto a WIFI network and they can all hear me, as opposed to using IEMs. Idea is in its infancy and I have a spare WAP I could utilize.

I'll keep tabs on the mouse and lighting but on this next show, the show is entirely computer controlled, strictly hands off when I get it started.
