1st question..I bought a Chauvet Data Stream 4. I dont have the budget for an Elation so i had to get this as it was the only product offered by guitar center and it was in my budget. However this unit does offer input/output isolation and has 3 and 5 pin configuration. It looks like everything will be fine but this device is not a booster, i guess i can live without a boosted up signal as long as it works properly. i only do small venue's to medium venue's. Anyone have any expierence with this product with myDMX before i hook it up?

2nd question, i have an EOL 120 ohm terminator and since i bought this splitter.....where do i plug in the terminator? When i had everything daisy chained i just plugged it in at EOL. But not im not sure where to plug it in at???? I plan on having 2 moving heads on 1 output, 2 more moving heads on another output and having 4 color strips on another output

Last question....I own (4) American dj accu spot 250ii's 9 channel mode and (4) Chauvet Color Strip mini's. Are any of these units Self Terminating? just curious to know if i even need a terminator now since i will have dmx splitter.

if anyone can shed some light on any of my questions.....i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks

louie

just one last question here jingles

since this is a splitter that has input output isolation.....each output channel is technically its own and thats why you are recommending a terminator on each channel i take it?

i guess i need to call chauvet and find out if each channel is isolated from each other if that is the case. i would think it would be cause they wouldnt make all the outputs just split off all as one? hell i dont know.....i wish i had the budget for an american dj/elation splitter so that way i could have the signal amplified too
You shouldn't have to do a terminator on the outputs you are not using, just the ones you are. Even then, you only really need them if you are doing fairly long runs, like 200+ feet or so, and/or you have some really bad interference for some reason. They are so cheap, however, it can't hurt to terminate each output you are using (so long as the last unit in line isn't self terminating, but you seem to know that already Wink).
yea i figured that out after i made the first post. i guess its called research.....hahaha. i really do appreciate all advice by people on these forums as i love doing intelligent lighting. im the only person locally who offers choreographed lighting, everyone else just throws up some sound activated lights and i honestly havent seen anyone locally here in KC who has moving heads. nobody wants to invest in them. oh well....more for me.

but i was curious about not running terminators because the guy who owned these before me, he never ran a terminator, but he also never had anything other than 4 moving heads....i started adding to the lighting rig and then things got funny.

im running a 4 hour long test right now with this new splitter....seems to work fine and i dont have any terminators plugged in right now except in the 4th terminal since its not being used, ill prolly pick up 3 more just in case.
