Recently purchased the WiFlex wireless DMX system. Tx and Rx. Have anyone had any issues with drop outs and latency? I am using it in a show this weekend and have determined in the rehearsals that the system is unreliable as it has dropped out several times since I have had it up and running....It eventually picks back up but I can't have it drop out in the middle of a scene and then when it feels like it pick the signal back up. I am well within range of the wireless signal probably 80' or so line-of-site from Tx to Rx. Now I will say that the Rx is elevated a bit from the Tx, but that can't see where that would matter. Is there a way to correct these issues or is the system unreliable and should only be used for specific applications such as up-lighting and not for full-on production even if its on a small scale?

Thanks

Shane

I pretty much have heard good things about the wiflex system. If you had access to another Tx and Rx you could test each unit in case there many be a problem with one or the other. The upcoming Wifly system looks good. But I don't know what the different in the two models is other than the Wifly system can be Tx or Rx based on a switch, making it more flexible.

Looked at your facebook page. Nice rig....Impressive lights....sure the sound is great too. Everything you have looks clean and professional. Anyway, I do not have another Rx or Tx to test...Could have been the venue that I was at....I am gonna test here at the house and see if there are any drops...Yesterday I gave the system one more chance....Dropped out like three or four times....Go out completely and then 30 sec or so later re-engage.....I was only controlling lekos but when you have multiple scenes with Blackouts during a show...You cannot afford any hang-ups. So I had to hard-wire the dimmers to insure a secure connection....

Thanks for the reply. I did my research b4 purchasing last week and could not find any bad reviews....really surprised that I am having a problem since all of my other ADJ equipment is top-notch....I will do what testing I can and return if I continue to have problems.

typically the only drop out errors i have ever seen or heard about were caused if there were strong WiFi xmit near by (same room) Is there a brodband wifi signal close by?? Where is your xmiter placed? near any power lines or amplifiers? If none of the above is happening, there is a chance you have a bad unit.... These systems are very reliable typically (even with what i described) Might need to send them in to get checked
When the connection dropped the Rx light indicated that by being steady on. Eventually the light would begin flashing again indication a signal.

The building that I was in was equipped with wifi. Other than that there was nothing else that I can think of that could have interfered.

Thanks guys for the help.

it is possible that the wifi effected your signal.... only way to tell is if you went back in the same room and see if you drop out again.... if so, then test somewhere outside or in a place where there is little to no wifi in the area.... see if it drops out then....if not, you know it is the wifi if so, then i would say send it in to be checked
