Hey guys, about two years ago, I started collecting some cool room lights, you know, the color ball, lava lamp, etc.
After a while, I started getting into it, and when I got to middle school, I committed to being a co-DJ with the music teacher, Mr. roberts. I had always thought the dances were lame and I was there to spice it up. It is an approx. 90'x 40' gym (if that's correct). I already have the following;
an ADJ reflex (not 300)
a set of 4 6"x6" strobes
4 spots (chase, sound, solid)
a moving spotlight (x,y,z)
a beacon (for my area Big Grin )
3x fog machines
a few color balls
a red laser
and a set of other small misc. lights.

NOW, my question. what 2 lights (under 100 USD)would best suit me for lighting up the gym and getting the students dancing? Thanks.

One sound activated stand-by is the "vertigo". Good room coverage, standard workhorse, but can get boring and too repetitive over long periods of time.

The Saga has a nice effect, but it has a 100W output, so it will need to be run in multiples (if possible, run 4).

Speaking of multiples, most setups will require you run two lights at the same time to balance the room (left & right). If you run one light and the room is full, it is possible that 1/2 the people will not get the lighting effect. Aiming is critical.

If you are committed to spending some money, check out the packages available: (i.e. Mobile-ray, Mobile-Beam, Quick-scan).

The Hyperbeam is a great moon flower effect, and the color sweep, used in pairs can change up the room.

One Note: Don't overload the room (or your lighting inventory) with too many moonflowers. They serve their purpose, but moving little squares of light are moving little squares of light. Don't forget to include white light. Colored lighting is good, but white needs to be integrated.
