Hi

There are countless lasers on the market that make the trace that you are interested in. For $300, you should be able to find one that you like. I've used a few American DJ lasers in my past, and I can assure you that they're quality units. The only downside to American DJ lasers (and any cheaper laser) is that they scan their traces using stepper motors. These are fine and do the job for a reasonable cost, however they can only scan so fast. The lasers in your video are using galvos, probably scanning upwards of 50,000kpps. This gives significant improvement in how smooth, precise, and fluid the trace is. Galvo scanning comes at a price though.

The other situation is figuring out how much power you need. How big of a room do you plan to use this in? In small rooms, the American DJ lasers look great, but in a larger setting you need more power for the lasers to look good. Here in the United States you need to get an FDA variance to use anything more powerful than 5mW (though there are exceptions). A bit of a pain, but absolutely necessary to use a bigger and more impressive unit.

It really comes down to how seriously do you want to get into lasers? For $300, you can get a decent laser from American DJ and have fun with it. If you're trying to do a laser show in a 30,000 seat arena, you'll need something thousands of times more powerful, not to mention a tremendously bigger budget! Hope this helps!
