Ok, well i just got my dj system, and as far as lighting i have a lotus, 2 strobes, a vertigo, and a color pod. Now im kind of out of money!

I might be getting a junior prom, but im not sure if they will pick me, if they do, as far as my lighting goes do u think that is fine.

Also after i get a few gigs im going to get some intelligent lighting (probaly in octomber), when i get them i am only gonna get 1 first, then another after a while, and so on unitl i have 4. Which light should i get.

sorry if this is confusing, here are the 2 questions again:
1)Based on the lights i currently have, should that be fine for a junior prom?
2) After the prom and a few more gigs, what intelligent light should i get, i will be buying them 1 at a time until i get 4?

1. No unless they are planning to pay you very little. Proms are bigger you may want to look into renting a few lights.

2. Intells are made to be used in pairs unless its a centerpiece, so i suggest you start looking for what pair of intells should you buy.

How much do you plan to spend on one intell?

heres my suggestion from best-last pick(scanners):
-Elation vision 250-*****
-ADJ. Ultra scan-****
-ADJ. Concept 2-****
-ADJ. Mighty scan-****
-ADJ. Concept 1-***
-ADJ. Scan tron-***
-ADJ. Pocket scan-**
-ADJ. Dj scan-*
I think you got a effects covered pretty good. just some color fill is needed in my opinion. maybe two par cans or more pricey 2 of elations [URL=http://www.elationlighting.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1077&cat=Stage%20Lighting
]stage color[/URL]par cans. Its all what you think or what light you like better i can only suggest what i think would be good for that setup.
well if u have a budget of under $1000, u should really look into the nova scans! i knoe this is agaist the boards rule about other companys but still... u can get 4 of these and maybe a dmx operator for under 1000 or sumthing like that..... if not email me at DJILUSION02@aol.com Wink

in my opinion, there is no straight answer to that question. for lighting, there can be no definitive package that automatically solves your problems for every gig. From what it looks like, you do not have enough for a junior prom.
here are the lights i would reccomend, under my own opinion, that you look at, but again, you have to be sure these are "compatible" with your system, and that they fill the needed gaps you feel your light show needs.
-flash duo
-rolling star
-mace II
-16 or 20 inch mirror ball (along w/ par cans and base
-H-650L helicopter
-2 OS-404L oscilators (a pair to compliment each other)
-razz matazz
-aggressor

now, and please don't take this the wrong way, maybe you might be rushing it a little if you took on a junior prom at this time. proms are big events, and it takes a lot of work to put one together. i know i sure as hell could not do one on my own now. maybe, with what you have, you should aim more towards parties, middle school dances, and birthdays rather than take on a junior prom at this time. if you go in unprepared, it might not turn out so well. however, if you hold off and wait until you have the necessary equip and experience to take on a junior prom, it will be a blast. i am not saying you aren't ready, i don't know you and i may be totally wrong, and plz in no way take this offensively, i am just saying from personal experience it is better not to rush things. hope this helps. i think the dj scans are ok for biggeners but if ur going to be doing proms and stuff like that u might need better, faster and smoother movings lights.... if u have a low budget u can either got wit the 4 dj scans(8 colors, 8 gobos) or wit the nova scans(14 colors plus white,14 gobos)...the dj scans u can get for about 299.99(sam ahs) or a nova scan for about 199.99 (cetrestage lighting) i think the nova scans in the perfect TOTAL bang for the buck deal......its all up to u.....if u have anymore questions feel free to email me at DJILUSION02@aol.com or SONIDOGENIO@aol.com Wink
