Hey all,
I purchased a set of four of the old spotlight Vortex lights on eBay about two years ago.
They came with a brand new controller as the auction stated. After about a year, the controller started to be intermittent. Sometimes the LED would light up on the controller indicating that the lights should be off, but, they never would turn off. I would move the cord up near the connector, and based on how you move the cord, it would work and not work.
So, I decided to purchase another controller. It cost me $45 and was very lucky to get the last one in stock at a dealer. Now one year later, this controller also is causing problems too.
When you plug it in, the lamp on the light goes out. Then, if you pull it back out of the jack in the light, you can hear the motor resetting itself to be in-sync with the other lights. Again, same thing when you plug it back in and take it back out. Every now and then, it will get just right where it will work.
My concern is now I cannot find a controller for this light anymore because they are very old. I really think that is some type of manufacturer defect in this controller because while the issue wasn't exactly the same, when I move the cord up near the 1/4" jack on the controller it would sometimes cause it to work and not.
I've taken excellent care of both controllers and they just all of a sudden go bad.
I was wondering if anyone has possibly noticed this issue IF anyone has had any of these lights before. It is a simple on/off switch as you can see here:

I have been told that because there is a certain signal it sends to the lights, I cannot use any other type of 1/4" controller with a simple on/off for this light.
Lastly, it looks like you can purchase the vortex gobo color wheels from AMDJ. Has anyone possibly taken this color wheel and attempted to put it in the older Vortex model? This essentially would make this light the same as the newer Vortex/G light.
Thank you for any and all responses.
