VMS4 With Traktor Duo

we may start with the obvious.

what hardware are you using?
what software are you using (exact version number)?
what have you done so far?
at what point are you failing?
have you contacted support already?

this is a little bit too little info in your posting to step in... but i'm happy to help if you provide me with some info, aight?

I am on a mac 10.5.8
Using Traktor 1.2.6
i have tried different tsi files, none of them work for me.
I am failing at the beginning. play buttons dont work, nothing works. Some tsi files let some things work, but they dont do the correct functions.
I have contacted support, no reply.

I first received your email this AM and have replyed and you have replyed back. I would think that is good service. I am located in the US. You said the the VMS4 worked great with Virtual DJ LE, so we know it is not the unit.

I am confident that between the incredible Fresh Fluke and the USA service department that your issues will soon be taken care of.

I just thought a good service would have been to have working files online and clear instructions for both Mac and PC.

i have to admit i didnt think of duo users when i made my mappings... maybe that's it.

but AFAIK if you load a mapping in DUO that was made for PRO, you get it working except the features DUO doesnt have.

so, just for a try. if you dl my mapping, import it and follow the pdf that is enclosed closely, what exactly doesnt work?

(i try to find out if it's a duo/pro issue with this test first)

Most stuff is working pretty good now.

I am having a silly problem now that some songs are coming up as 60bpm instead of 120bpm. This is a silly problem, but one thats ruining my life!

Uhmmm... was hoping for a fix when it reads it as 60bpm instead of 120bpm. cause it makes syncing very hard :[

traktor's bpm estimation cannot decide sometimes

therefore, in the grid advanced tab, there is a :2/x2 button that doubles or halves the bpm values. very neat and of course you can map that to a hotkey.

also choose in the preferences a bpm range as small as possible fitting to your DJ style, this helps traktor finding the right tempo better.

I just truend it on today and Traktor didnt find it, so i rebooted them both and it found it.
But no sound comes from deck A and deck B EQ controls are what should be deck A, apart from play and cue and effects.

So no sound from deck A
&
Deck B is really messed up.
No controls where changed.


I have midi controller set to

8 out
Normal
all channels on USB
and cross faders to 2 & 3

ok.. deck A is now on midilog 1!
I have n idea how it got there.
When i change EQs on other midilogs it effects it though.
ITS VERY STRANGE!
how can i get it back to deck a controlled with midilog2 and deck 3 by midilog 3. and so that mdilog 1 & 4 do not effect the other midilogs?!

Hope your having great day! Chances are your soundcard switch on the front of the unit is set to "8" and you are using 2 decks. Turn the unit off and set it to "4" and turn the VMS4 back on.

That fixed that! Great stuff!
But the midilogs are still very odd.
like a track would have no treble in it and its turned up. then i adjust it slightly and it all comes back at once. Bizzzarre!

I, too, am having a slight problem with the vms4.
I'm using a dell inspiron 1545
Traktor 1.2.7
So far i've mapped the VMS4 with Subsonik's mapping from the traktor bible. and i think i've set up the outputs, but i'm honestly not sure if it's done right. The way the mapping is set up is midilogs 2 and 3 are set to decks A and B. but the way i have the switches on the front panal of the controller set up is that CH 1 and 2 are set to analog and 3 and 4 are set to USB. It's the only way i get get sound out of both speakers. This,for some reason, affects CH 3 whenever i minipulate the EQ for CH 4 and vice versa. This also applies for midilogs 1 and 2.

please post some screenshots of your audio setup in traktor.

The way the mapping is setup is that no matter which channels you map the audio to - deck a is mapped to the knobs (gain, high, mid, low) on midilog2 and deck b is mapped to midilog3.

If you're wanting to use different faders then you'd need to edit a few settings in the controller mappings in Traktor.

DJ Freshluke!! Can you help me tooo! It looks like I am having the same initial problem as Pandicots. I am running a MacPro 10.5.8 with a VMS4 and Traktor DUO. I have imported all the tsi files online and cannot get any of the commands to show up...I have a BIG gig in one month and need to practice...Can you please help me out!?

then. what exact issues do you have? what "doesnt work". what exact traktor version do you use? what operating system? attach some screenshots
