im deffo getting power spikes affecting my set-up, at first i thought it may have been a smoke machine i had on the same ring main so i decided to isolate the vms4 and my laptop and put them on an isolated ring, however is still happening, dont get the issue tho when i run the system without my laptop plugged in, i can force power spikes and it still continues to run.
with this in mind im guessing its a spike down the usb line thats causing rhe problem as as soon as i remove the usb cable from the vms4 i can then continue to use the laptop.

both the vms4 and the laptop are both connected to the isolated line with a surge protection socket strip as well!

im also doubtful that it is soley the smoke mahcine that is causing the issue as its no longer on the same ring and is not connected to the same ring in any way.

any ideas on what can be done to stop these problems?

nice to know adj are willing to help with this issue even when it is a common issue after reading around the internet a bit.

looks like its not my vms4 but either my smoke machine or my laptop... funny how both of these items work fine with my usb numark mixer and have done for years without even a slight hickup.. im really hoping all these issues regarding the vms4 are sorted soon either through a firmware update or through a new product release and swap outs, must admit my faith in adj has now gone right downhill
i have discovered that if you remove the laptop power supply form the equation you will get no problems (not a solution i know) this proves that its a spike in the usb bus, the vms4 obviously has no voltage smoothing and filtering in the usb socket, a little silly since they also say it can be ran this way!

ive sent them an email with my findings and shall post that and its reply once i get it back
laptop is well within spec, dual core pentium 2.6ghz 4 gig ram, 256mb graphics, running vista 32bit ultimate..

its not a laptop issue as it runs fine for hours until some sort of noise or spike is found on the mains line,

still no reply from adj, not even an acknowledgement of my email, must admit this is the last adj product for me, local store cant help as they say its working within spec, looks like it could be small claims as the unit is clearly not designed to work in a professional environment as its described its for.

looks like adj want nothing to do with this issue as i still aint got anything back.
vista is unlikely to be the issue on this as it works fine till there is a power spike this causes the vms4 to lock up, if i unplug the laptop usb cable it then runs fine again however the vms4 still remains locked up and does not do it when the laptop is not pluged into the mains supply.

to be honest im a little sick that a bit of kit is make for a pro market and has been so badly tested in the real world for all these issues
