VMS4 midilog channels

I started DJing recently and it's working quite well with the VMS4, although I have one problem. I connected my speakers (nothing more than a simple 60 watt Logitech system used to connect to a computer) to the outputs of my VMS4. I tried connecting the cable with one of the four midilog channels but I don't get any sound at all. I'd like to make use of my treble, bass and so on but atm it's not possible of course.
Can somebody please tell me what it is that I could be doing wrong?
