vms4 headphone problem

So I just got my vms4 a few days ago as my first controller and started setting it up with traktor pro 2.1.2 and I downloaded a few good mappings for it. Well everything works except I'm not getting any sound out of my headphones even when I hit cue for the channel, headphones are set to cue, gain normal, output routing set to internal in which moniter is set to side left/side right and master set to front left /front right. I dont have any speakers connected.

set the mixer mode to external, this will cure your problem!

i tried that and then set my output preview to front left front right and still nothing.
