Hello,

I'M writing to ask your help in the topic of: USB is not disconnecting on VMS4.1 (during switch off)

I bought a new VMS4.1 in January from the Hungarian store.

I have installed ASIO driver 1.20 and Virtual DJ LE 7.0.5
from the original CD enclosed in the package according to manual.

If i check ASIO setting after switching the unit on, everything is on & OK.
(I can even hear the windows sound, when USB port detects the VMS4.1)

Virtual DJ is working fine.

The problem comes, when I close Virtual Dj, and switching down the power of the VMS4.1
Unit is not disconnecting the USB connection !
(I also have tried with switching down the unit first and then VDj)

When I'm logging off from Win7, than the operating system is freezing at the point,
where it should turn down the power on the Laptop.

I'm using the following Config:
Toshiba Satellite L300-19j
Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.00 GHz
3GB DDR2 RAM
Intel® GM45 Express chipset
Operating System: Win7 home premium (legal version)

Anyone has any idea?

One of my friends has also bought a VMS4.1 a week ago in the same store
and he has the same problem on an other Laptop.

Have you tried 'left-clicking' on the 'USB Icon on the bottom right of your taskbar and ejecting usb device? I know this isn't the best solution, but it should eject. The issue with the computer freezing when shutting down brings me to think about laptop driver issue...

I have a similar issue with the USB not disconnecting, but mine only seems to happen when it is in 8 out mode. Also I have been trying to get it to work with Ableton. It works fine in 4 out mode but then I try it in 8 out mode Ableton freezes.
Have you gotten any reply from the american audio folks. I emailed them as well, but haven't gotten a reply yet.
Hi All,

I have installed XP Home paralel to Win7,
to test functionality & speed of the VMS4.1
with the Asio Driver 1.2.

Results: Win7 is much more faster with Dualcore
and Latency is good! Xp performance is slower compared to Win7 and Latency is poor!

About USB connection issue:
With XP home same problem - USB is NOT disconnecting after power is turned off on VMS4.1 - thus XP is not freezing.

So final solution, what works both on XP & Win7: Don't switch off your VMS4.1,
just initiate Shut Down from start menu,
and the Operating system will close the USB connection during Power off.

Hope this helps to others with same issue.
My case ended with a broken harddisk (190 EUR)
because of the switch offs after win7 was frozen. Red Face(

European Support -> Thanks for nothing !
I have my own solution.

Hi there,

I reported this problem to both (EEUU and europe) supports and don´t get a right answer yet. This bug is on Windows Vista and windows 7 (tried in a laptop and a pc) so hope to get a solution soon, by the moment all that you can do is reboot first and disconnect during the statup as Micsu said.
Hi,

since i had the exact same problem with Windows 7 i've asked EU support the same thing.

Problem

When i close Virtual Dj, and turn off the VMS4.1, unit is not disconnected from the USB connection ! (I also have tried to switch off the unit first and then VDj)

When I'm shutting down Windows 7, the operating system freezes. I also tried it with Windows XP & Vista and the same problem happens with all operating systems.
In addition, USB icon is not appearing on the bottom right taskbar.

The VMS 4.1 is using a really special ASIO Driver. If you switch off the console this can bring you the problems as described.
This is a thing which you will find also with other products from different builder.

I reply

Hi Peter,

thanks for the quick response.

So your suggestion is to shut down the PC and then turn off VMS4.1?

ADJ EU support answer

Hello,

and yes this is the way you shutdown the whole system.
