The "obvious reasons" being that ADJ don't give a damn about anyone who bought the original 'broken' version of the VMS4.

It's clear from the messages posted here from the designer of the internal hardware, that there was a major compromise with the circuitry, and it really wasn't designed well.

We were told - by the designer - that it would be addressed.

Obviously ADJ know damn well that there was (is) a BIG problem with the design of the original - which is why there's now a 4.1 version.

They fixed it.

But not the way they should have, by supporting owners of the original.

the original version of the vms is NOT BROKEN.
it's absolutely clear that it works as intended, minor flaws - yes, broken - NO!

the feedback i get on the trade shows i've been with the vms speaking to customers from all over the world reflect exactly this.

there is a new version because there's always a new version and always room for improvement. ADJ made these things better that were requested by users - that doesnt mean that the old version were "broken" - it. was. not.
To clarify. American Audio is not offering any upgrades on the VMS4 to the 4.1 The VMS4 is working fine and if there are any issues for useres in the U.S. please send me an e-mail to ernies@americandj.com so we may offer you support. For European customer please contact service@americandj.eu

Well then how about the thousands of complaints in this section of the forum?

Does that implicate enough for you?

Or the fact that the designer of the product himself admitted in posts here that the design was flawed?

thousands? nope.

we've beaten this to death and you know that too: the majority of happy users tend not to post in forums, this is the same with every forum. reality check: i've been on musikmesse and on bpm and on both, the vast majority was giving me the most positive feedback about the vms4.

yes, there were issues with the mic inputs and yes, ADJ sent out adaptors for free.

a not so loud output is something you can improve with a next version but that doesnt mean it didnt work beforehand.

Thousands, yes! See for yourself.

Have a look at the post count in this section of the forum. Almost 4,000 posts.

That's 4,000 posts (mainly negative) about ONE product.

Compare to the other section that deals with amplifiers, CD players, mixers and various other kit. Fewer posts, and that's covering ALL the amps, players, mixers etc. that ADJ make.

Does that not make things clear?
Most of issues are third-party drivers related. I am happy with my VMS4 (first version). These months were out of stock here in madrid (spain) because it is being sold more than expected. It works as it is described in reviews and in specs page of his website, but it doesnt mean some stuff can be redesigned or improved.

Its same issue of Beringher and the bcd2000. After a few months they released BCD3000, improved to use with traktor, but bcd2000 is not a faulty product, I have one unit and it works perfectly.

If you dislike it, its easy, sell it and buy another controller pal Wink

+1
In My Opinion the AA made a huge mistake by not making a mapping for Traktor users and test it at first...before get the VMS4 on the market
Using Traktor program creates most of the problems as i realized in this forum by reading many posts...And bcz i have a problem with my Traktor software...The idea that i bought something and doesnt work doesnt make me feel well as most of the users...
So AA must do something, find some solutions not by creating a new VMS4 but trying to improve the "old" one and give the apotunity to their users to be saticfied with their resaults...
It is not very easy to sell a VMS4 and buy the "new" one...Also it is not a solution...Most of the users does not afford to make an investment like this so practicly its extremly dificcult to buy a New One...
SO AA must try to find solutions to the problems not to make us buy their new product... :O Red Face :O

(I Dont Want TO FLame Anyone And Nothing)
i dont understand your problem - the vms4 has been sold with VDJ and not traktor.

since it's a midi device, you sure can use traktor with it (i did with TSP1.2.7 and TSP2). i made my own mapping, since back then there was no official mapping.

but there is one since traktor 2.0.3 that gets installed along with traktor - which you can adjust if you like to.
From personal experience - mapping issues with Traktor must be down to a persons computer.

I used my vms4 with Traktor for a good few months without any issues at all on my macbook using AA's mappings.

Sadly, the components of the controller were shocking to say the least and i am currently waiting on a vms4.1 replacement.... still...... after 3 months.
