VMS 4 Sound Problem : Can you help me?

First question - do you have all the USB/analog switches on the front edge of the VMS4 set to USB?

Do you have the channel gains turned up enough?

Hi Tonek,

I think this happens when your pc has setup the VMS4 as default playback or recording device. Try setting that back to your regular soundcar and re-run the asio-setting program.

yeah all are set to usb mode and 4out. My gain (headphone and channel) are turned enough and i set the normal mode (not reverse)

The original firmware file should be on your system. It gets put there during the VDJ LE installation.

Have a look in your VDJ folder (not the Program Files one, but under your user name).

Set your internal playback to Realtek HD Audio (laptop speakers)

Double check that the inputs are the same.

uninstall the asio drivers

unplug the vms4

reinstall the VMS4 ASIO drivers

connect the VMS4

windows should "see" this device again and hopefully correct the ASIO side.

Similar issues can be found with many soundcards, they just like to have everything done in their preferred order, you see windows remebers every device you have connected via USB. If you use a mouse in USB1, it sets the driver to use this port, then if you move it to USB2 it does the same again, but keeps the config for UBS1, multiply that by everything you have ever connected to it and it gets messy in there.

There's ways to clean up the USB side of things, but we can try that later.

Right same thing happened to me when i was on windows for my vci 300. Hope you will fix it

I did it and when i plug the VMS4 in 2 usb port, nothing happened except the windows sound of something plugged in usb. Then i tried in the third usb port, where i plugged a mini bluetooth key, then it install something and tell me it was ready to use but when i go to the asio setting : nothing :'(

This sounds like a problem with the VDJ software.

If you select the VMS4 as your primary sound and play something with media player / winamp etc? does the sound come out then ?

I had the same problem, my problem was that i already had installed an other asio driver, and i had to delete that one, after that everything worked fine with my VDJ-Pro version, but for some wierd reason there isn't that "vms4" symbol when i select something in my "soundcard option" i just have the "2 soundcard option".

And the vdj version which was with the vms4 hasn't got an config option menu, it just keeps telling me that i had my 20 days of testing which isn't true..

well my VMS4 works with a few issues just like the cue buttons etc. and one fader seems to be a little damaged.. but whatever it WORKS

i hope you guys can understand my stuff here because my english isn't that good haha

It's begining to sound like a hardware related issue.

If you can't play windows sounds through it (and you can through your internal card) it's probably hardware related.

Windows needs very little to produce sound, so the basic driver should create it.

The last check i would do (before sending it back for replacement) is

(1) uninstall ALL the software you have added for the VMS4.
(2) reboot the PC
(3) connect the VMS4 (windows should then see it has a device connceted and through it's classless state should install the very basic of sound drivers without you doing anything)
(4) goto to the sound section in control panel and make sure that windows see's the VMS4 as the primary sound device
(5) run winamp/media player
(6) make sure that the VMS4 is configured correctly, i.e. USB not analogue
(7) turn up all the gains, make sure that your EQ rotaries are all centered

If you still don't see anything happening on the unit (LED meters) or hear anything, i would suspect that your unit is dead !


BTW AA/ADJ - A question, WHO PAYS FOR THE RETURN POSTAGE ?

I lost out £50 because your kit didn't work, will you pay for everyone to have their unit's returned etc.?

You should, after all the users didn't break them, they arrived broken ...

Hi JSM, I tried my VMS4 on an anather PC. I installed VDJ LE and then the ASio driver, a plugged in my VMS4 in a usb port and started VDJ. It does the same thing as before... BUT, the windows sounds and things like music player work and go through my VMS4, so i can hear in my headphone the music played in the music player and the LED meter work perfectly...
I'll try on my laptop all you said to me and come here to say you what it has done.

Can you include the full build of the OS .. ie.

XP 32bit Service Pack 3
Vista 64bit SP1

etc.

If the unit works on another PC, the issue is with yours (sorry).

However USB can be cleaned up, this is a slightly dangerous operation, but I will write a step by step method for removing dead entries in the registry and in the device manager.

I must say though, if you mess it up, like deleting something you shouldn't, I am only offering help, and it's your choice to take that help.

ADJ/AA should be doing this under their support agreement with you anyway.

@ JSM : Where can i found all these infos (i'm not very good at PC ). With the other PC, it's the same probleme as my laptop : windows sounds, média player etc works fine on both, when i plug a external music source (CD/mp3 player) with channel switch on analog, it also works. In fact, there's only with VDJ (Pro or not, i tried both) that my VMS4 doesn't make sound and LED metter (others knobs, button, slide or jogwheel work fine as i see this on my laptop screen on VDJ)

Hi i having problems with my VMS4 also. No sound is coming out...everything seems to be working like the buttons and jog wheels but no sound. Volume meter is moving also. But when i try to watch youtube videos or play vlc player no sound comes out also. I trie re-installing VDJ LE also but still nothing. I have everything set up correct i think like the front switches to USB and not analogue etc.
I have it configured as
Inputs: no (no inputs)
For outputs i choose "External Mixer"
For sound card i selected the VMS4

Is this correct any help please i hope it's not the controller cause it's gonna cost me at least $120 to ship it back to the stated cause i'm from Melb Australia!

Alright I just installed VDJ Pro and this is the only way i could get it to play sound when i configured the sound set up as follow
Inputs: none
Outputs: either external mixer or headphones
Soundcard: 2 cards Realtek HD Rear Audio
Also with soundcard settings if i select VMS4 midi audio device here no sound comes out. Only way i can get sound is if i choose 2 cards for soundcards.
Sound works when i select this sound option but i can't control the volume faders and cross fader. I can hear both decks a and b at the same time. I can't use the cross fader to only listen to deck a or b and the 4 volume faders don't control the volume. Volume meter isn't working also in this option. I think cause it's running thru my computers soundcard and not the VMS4's. When i select VMS4 where soundcard is in sound option no sound comes out HELP PLEASE!!!!

I'm just using it on a home pc with speakers hooked up to my comp. Volume meter works but no sound when i'm using VDJ LE. I even un-installed it and re-installed it again so then i upgraded to VDJ Pro using the trial and configured it this way

INPUTS:NONE

OUTPUTS:HEADPHONES

SOUNDCARD:ASIO DRIVER(WHEN I CHOOSE VMS4 HERE NO SOUND COMES OUT)

When i do it this way my volume meter doesnt work now and cant control the cross fader, volume fader(mixer bit of vms4 practically) can control them by using the mouse though.
Everything works using the mouse but i can't control the mixer bit cross fader, gain, treb, mid, bass, master, balance, booth using the VMS4 controller. The jog wheels and the buttons on deck a and b works fine when i use it on the controller. Volume meter doesn't work when i configure it this way but i get sound which is strange

I set up the switches on the front panel correctly on the VMS4 like set it to USB and not analogue etc but can't get it to function properly. I actually got sound out of my VMS4 now but it's like all the controls work when i'm using the mouse but when i try to use the controllers cross fader, volume fader on the VMS4 it won't work so doesn't the knobs on midilogs 1, 2 ,3, 4 on the controller but all function and work properly when i use the mouse to control them. Jog wheels and effects, play, pause, cue, etc when i use it on the VMS4 controller it works fine. Seems like it's just the mixer bit that i can't use to control on the VMS4. Volume meters working and all. Probably need to re map???

Don't worry about any help! Not like i was hoping to get any! I actually got it to work and i didn't get the help from here or any ADJ Customer support cause no one replied! What's the point of posting for help if no one is gonna help! Also this is for GROOVEINDJ on Youtube who sent me a message not to help but to try and contradict me! Saying i didn't read the manuals or look for help on the forums! First thing anyone would do is read the manual or instructions! Shout out to JeremyjsmSWVA on Youtube for helping by the way!
