I had an issue last night that i didn't have prior to upgrading to windows 8 pro.

the left jog wheel on deck 1 would stutter on its own, as if i was touching it, i was able to make it stop by disabling the vinyl button. i was able to finish my gig thankfully, but then ran into another issue toward the end of the night. the deck 1 pitch fader stopped responding and the songs for some reason, would auto pitch up/down DURING play if i were to drop a track into deck 2, like it was trying to match deck 2's track bpm for whatever reason.

I never had any issues like this with Windows 7, although i did have that scratchy sound issue once that people have also mentioned. i was able to just turn the unit off/on and it went away. but it could also be the fact i'm not running my vms4.1 the proper way.

8 out, 1 analog, 2 usb, 3 usb, 4 analog, and i have decks 1&3 on same channel(2) and 2&4 on same channel(3). using VDJ
i dont think it's directly related to win8, in this case i would much more think of an midi overflow issue... you could try at home to play and let a midi tracking software run too, so you can see if the vms is sending the right values all the time or gets stuck at one point.
Can you please tell me, WHY there's no firmware update provided, however it's put in the manual as important? Thereby, is there any solution to have the Gain and Master knobs working in the Virtual Dj LE software as provided with the package? I'm getting a lot of complaints about that from my customers...
its VDJ software, not the controller, they have the script set to FAKE_ if you remove fake_ on the volume master then it will control it IN the software and also ON the controller (which is a stand alone mixer) yes the out put on the VMS to me its loud, and I found removing the fake_ I was able to adjust the headphones finally without blowing my ears out
It´s not the Software :-)

Why not the Software?
The middle Part of VMS2/4.1 is analog, like a stand-alone Mixer. It´s not only Midi like other Conroller. Thats the reason, why you should use the "_fake" for the EQ´s and Level (only VDJ Full Pro!), it don´t work for the Gain!

So the EQ´s are working alone without any Software. If you don´t use "_fake"in VDJ-Full-Pro, you´ll have a "double-effect", from Software and from Hardware. Disortions in High/Middle/Low are normal then.

Within the included VirtualDJ-LE you can´t change anything. How it works with Traktor, i don´t know. But ´cause of the same reason i wrote before, there should be no mapping for the EQ´s and Level-Fader too, only with a fake for visual.

Sorry, i don´t often write in english...
Greetings from Germany :-)

exactly.

it's the same - EQs etc. are just not mapped and not moving in the software.

I too have had a similar problem, albeit the right hand jog wheel.I will try diasble the vinyl as you have and see if the probem persists. left hand jog wheel performs with no problems. is there a software fix for this?

there are a myriad of possible reasons for this.
first, what software are you using?
Hi thanks for your reply, I have a dell inspiron 1720 laptop, running windows XP professional with service pack 3. My DJ software is Virtual DJ pro. I have checked my external hard drives & replaced the USB connecting lead from USB hub to laptop, fault still apparent after approx 1-2 hours. On some occasions the fault does not occur at all. Your advice would be most appreciated. Many thanks David
ok. i'm not a VDJ expert, so i'd recommend you, in parallel to check out their forums; there is a vivid amount of vms users over there.

as next, i'd install a midi tracking software to see if the vms is sending the correct data when you use the jog wheel or if it sends erratic data, thus creating a midi overflow.

another thing to check would be the optimisation of the laptop. is the latency probably too low? is wifi/bluetooth on? if so, disable these as a first step.
