I would definately choose moving head fixtures that have the X and Y fine channels. Since you're already paying the premium for better stepper motors, it makes sense to use them. If you don't want the fine control, just ignore it, but leave the option there!

When I look to replace my current movers, fine control is definately a requirement. No fine control? No purchase.

I find when I do my lighting programming, I don't often need to use the fine channels until I get on site. It's nice having those 256 steps between the 256 steps!

What's also cool at least about myDMX, and I would assume the same about Compu: using the software to control the lighting, especialy when doing movements, it will deal with the fine channel stuff for you to help ensure a nice even movement. I like watching the faders flying up and down in myDMX, sort of looks like the programmer is on speed!
You don't open it you save it to your desktop. Once saved to your desktop you need to go to my computer> c drive> then look for SL2006 folder then open that folder then find the scan library folder then open the American DJ folder then place the vizi spot profile in there. Let me know if you understand this.
Sincerely,
ADJ's customer service is really top notch. It should get there when they say it should.

See if you can get a tracking number though. Recently, I've been having lots of gear of all kinds shipped to me so I've been using various iPhone apps to try and keep tabs on things.

My last round involved some gear that failed to ship on time and got to me 3 days after the event. At least these weren't required items.

Let me know how that Vizi LED spot works out. I've got my eye on buying a pair of those to replace a pair of different brand movers.

I gotta stop buying lights. I have a new audio console to save up for. Paying cash for everything sure takes the worry out of everything but it sure can be an inconvenience. After my next round of light purchases soon, that's it for while. I think. Maybe......
I just make it a policy these days to not even consider any fixture until it's released.

Too many issues in the past have caused issues with companies not delivering on time. At least now I'm in a position where for the most part, I don't need it. Over 70 mics, plenty of wireless(11 channels about to go to 9 thanks to the FCC!!), In-ears, floor wedges, pretty much whatever.

I was considering an Elation product, but the item isn't available yet. BUt I've found an equally suitable Elation light that works just as well. But, I can't afford either right now, so what difference does it make, right?

You're gonna love moving head fixtures. I wish I could do almost an entire show with mainly movers.
Hi Jingles,

We are planning on getting three Vizi LED Spots for our live rig and want to start programming it in myDMX right away. Do you happen to have that program available?

Also, has anyone ever successfully triggered a myDMX scene from a midi control command coming off a DAW? I've been looking at the specs and attempting to figure it out, but so far nothing. Has anyone tried to attempt this before that you know of?

Thanks!

Ryan Smith
Why not 4 VIZI LED spots? Oh wait, price. nevermind. Yeah, ouch.

Yes, I hae successfully triggered scenes in MyDMX from DAW software, sequencing software and a MID controller. I've posted quite heavily about it.

Here's your tip: DO NOT run your DAW or sequencing on the same computer that you intend to run MyDMX on, especially if you intend to trigger MyDMX on it, unless crashing, instability and all sorts of problems are your idea of a good time.

No, that's not a good time in front of a live audience.

A program for controlling the VISI Spots? HOw about lights in general. MyDMX, an ADJ product. Go download it and start playing with it. You can get the software for free and you can start using it 100% except for one thing: Unless you buy the MyDMX hardware, you can't control the lights and do the shows you programmed.

Can't know what you're doing unless you see it? Me neither. That's why you'll love the 3D Visualizer for MyDMX.

Another great thing is you don't need anything REAL to start working with MyDMX. You can take what you want your stage show to be, add in the fixture and start playng and programming. You can just set your lights to the proper DMX channels when you get them.

A word of caution: Orientation of your moving head fixture. After you do all your programming in MyDMX, take time to configure and orient your moving head fixtures properly so your programming in MyDMX comes out as intended.

MyDMX runs on PC: XP, Vista, Win 7, and 32- and 64 bit too. Also runs on Mac hardware with Bootcamp and booting as a PC. That's what I'm doing. Works wonderful!
Chris,

Sorry I meant the PROFILE for the Vizi LED Spots. That's why I posted on this thread, because Jingles said he had a profile ready for them. We are combining them with a few other lights for our show. And yes price is the issue. AND I am very familiar with the myDMX software and we've already addressed the two computer issue.

Thanks!
