I am completely new to lighting and have a question or two.

I currently have 2 DP DMX 20l's and 8 par 38 cans. In addition, I have a Light Station.

When I bought this stuff, I was under the impression the footswitch input on the back of the Light Controller was real and have learned, of course, that it's just a dummy.

I'm trying to light a small acoustic band but want to be able to set up 4 or 5 "scenes" that can be controlled via a foot controller.

My question is, should I dump the Light Station and get the FC-400? Will the FC-400 do what I want?

Thanks for your help,

EB

Well, if you want to have foot controlls...then yes, I would go with the FC-400. Also, a great controller although not fotr controlled is the Stage Desk 16 (about $265). Or if you don;t want foot controls stay with the light station. If you ever wanted to expand your system in the future the Light Station is great. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for to be the easiest for you.

Thanks!

I had learned about being able to use a MIDI instrument for this but with a mandolin, acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle and upright bass, it's a no go. Smiler

I also understand that a MIDI foot controller can be used but as I tried to get information on how to do this, I hit a brick wall. Some information indicated that certain types of MIDI foot controllers will work while others won't.

So, I guess the FC-400 is the ticket for a non-MIDI guy like myself.
