I bought a vertigo for my apartment. After buying it I read that the lights should only be left on for 15 minutes!!!!! This sucks since I only bought one! Is there some way to make it turn on and off automatically so I dont fry it? What would happen if I left it on for a couple hours? Would I just have to buy more bulbs more often? Would they blow say after an hour or so? This is something I will not be using very often, like once a week or less for a couple of hours. Also, it is too bright for my apartment. Can I put less powerful lights in it? If so, which ones? Would having less powerful lights mean I could leave it on longer?

Please give me some advise here!! Thanks!

well it is not reccommended to put lower wattage bulbs in. but if you really need to know call up adj support line and ask them they made it they should know! you can get the number off your manual. as far as the turning off/on issue look at the site for a relay pack or something like a dimmer pack. or a switch pack. also ask the support line about that as well. jingles out!
No matter what the literature states, every effect light on the market have "duty cycle". However, as the previous poster stated, I too have run two vertigo's for 6-7 hours straight without a problem. The "duty cycle" refers to how long the lamp will last if left on continuously. Most units have a fan(s) cooling system to extend the bulb life.

The biggest way to extend bulb life is to left the unit cool after running for an extended period of time before moving it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine have been very reliable. But I do recommend purchasing the premium bulbs.
