No diff. 512 is the protocol, and 8 bit is the resolution or the presition of the movements, by exmpl better scanners or moving heads have 16 bit that makes them more presise . So the diffrnce of 8 bit ,can be 16 bit. 512 dmx protocol is other topic , of course it related.
well i just got them and i gotta say the precision on the mirror movement is insane. nothing like the pocket scan. i cant even imagine what 16 bit would be like
the 8 bit is extremely smooth, and your 16but would be for extreme positioning, or movement like a moving head fixture (ie: non-stop smooth movement in a constant moving motion).
