I have been a My DMX 1.0 user for about 3 years now. What would the benefits to using 2.0 over the 1.0 version?

Most of my needs are programming moving heads and wash lights for a mobile DJ service.

Is there a way to allow programming in "blackout" mode? A really nice thing would be able to edit an existing scene while running another one.

Not sure if I am using the correct software and if the Elation Compu series is more advanced in this area.

Currently Ver2 does not have an offline 3D visualizer. Ver1 does. The Visualizer will be available in late 2013 to early 2014. It's supposed to have a new FX generator. I'm not sure what's new. Download ver2 and play with it as best you can. Even with no Visualizer you should be able to detect any new features. MyDMX is what it is, a simple prog for DJs to easily program and run your lights. If you need anything beyond that, you're best to go with snother program that is more flexible.
to add what CMBDJ was saying, there is no "black out mode" in MyDmx2, however, in compu there is an edit on the fly ability that i personally love... you can be running scenes, editing others, and triggering a third set all at the same time....you can black out some groups keep others running...flash strobes over running scenes....the list goes on.... MyDmx1 and 2 were basically designed as the basic level of programming for beginners (stripped down version of Compu) it doesnt have all of the major bells and whistles that Compu does specifically to keep it easy to use for the first time programmer and DJ that wants a quick and easy set up
