First let me say that I love this software! Thank you American DJ for creating a simple but powerful DMX control.
I have one minor glitch, if I shut down or re-boot the computer I have to disconnect and then re-connect the hardware to get a USB signal for the software to work.
My computer (IBM Think Centre) and OS (XP)is well within specs and I'm using the newest version of the My DMX software. Is there any way to work around or fix this problem? Currently I leave the computer on 24/7. Would appreciate any input.

I'm using the cable that came with MyDMX with a hard drive with no problems. But I can see what Jingles is saying. ADJ, like anyone else doing something like that, is buying those cables in bulk and sometimes they don't get a good batch.

I use a much better cable for MyDMX. It's longer and more flexible, so that's why I use it. Even so, I find to ensure best operation, I unplug the dongle before rebooting/starting and then plugging it in before running MyDMX. It's just become my routine so I don't see it as any big deal.

USB glitchiness? Cable? DLL? Regardless, my routine is what has been proven reliable and I'm sticking with it. Also, ensure you're running the latest MyDMX.
jwrogers,
I have the same issue and found that I must shut down in a particular sequence to prevent the situation you described. My process for shutdown is: Black out all DMX fixtures, close MyDMX, remove power from the DMX fixtures, power off the computer. My process for startup is: Power up computer, power up fixtures, start MyDMX, bring lights up as required.

That's pretty much exactly my procedure as well.

Mine is a bit different. On power up, I plug in the MyDMX dongle before I get into MyDMX. On power off, I don't worry about it.

I typically then when I get into DMX ensure I'm in blackout mode(I hit the dash key... that's my blackout), then go through a few different scenes that use the lights I am intending to use to ensure they are operating, then back to blackout or a "idle" scene.
