I am considering buying a USB foot-switch to effectively work as a mouse-click device that will move MyDMX from one scene to the next when it’s in User Mode. Does anyone have experience of using a USB foot switch to replace a mouse click?

If so,can anyone advise what best type of USB foot switch to use to do the job?

I starting to use MyDMX 1.0 to control the stage lighting for drama productions in our local village hall. Question: is there a way of advancing automatically from one lighting scene to the next one, when ready, without having to first reposition the actual mouse pointer over the oncoming scene?

Thanks in advance.

Lawrence,

Just got into DMX lighting and Jeff (not Jim - inside joke) continues to be an excellent resource of help on this board.

The question you're posting had a possible answer come in via a response on a thread about an issue I was having with my Obey 70 at www.harmonycentral.com

A couple of users over there have told me about a fair amount of success they've had in applying the Behringer FCB1010 footswitch to a rather inexpensive light control software that employs a USB hardware box. The system is put out by an Australian manufacturer called Enttec. Their product is called "DMXIS." Apparently the footswitch is also plugged in via USB to the lapper that provides the platform for the DMXIS software. These guys said the Behringer seemed to sync up with this system pretty seamlessly via another USB port on the lapper. It apparently gave them a decent level of control allowing them to toggle up/down within banks to quickly select 1 of 10 scenes within each bank.

If you sign up over at Harmony Central with an account, look for users "Mutha Goose" and "Stratguy22." The direct thread where I picked up information from these guys is at: http://www.harmonycentral.com/...td-p/34672291/page/3

Good luck with your application question and I'm sure you'll find the answer. What a helpful bunch of knowledgeable and experienced folks, like Jim/Jeff here!!!
you two are to kind.... Im just passing on my years of road knolege to assist you all in getting your dreams to come true....well, atleast your lighting dreams :-D Best of luck with all of this, im talking to the design team to possible configure a "go/back" trigger....maybe in a future update we can get it working
Hi Jeffrey. I am pleased to hear that you are talking to the design team about a Go/Back trigger. I have my fingers crossed that they can do it at some time. As the sound and lighting operator for our tiny (amateur) village hall/theatre the booth has only space for one (me) - so having to handle the mice for the two laptops at the same time is tricky. Exploring the USB footswitch idea right now for the MyDMX laptop. Cheers!
Many thanks to you and the design team for taking such a keen interest in this topic - it's very much appreciated.

I assume that anything on the design team's 'add' list that they are able to incorporporate will only be written into the MyDMX v2 software? I am still on MyDMX v1 until the 3D visualisation facility eventually becomes available on v2, when I will immediately upgrade as it's fantastic added value to me when pre-programming the lighting plots for our productions.
