A newbie is born every minute :+)

I am wanting to put a few lights in my kid's 25' x 25' playroom. I love the dazzle of the vertigo & epsilon but I also don't want to cause eye damage. Eeker

Is 2x300 watts too bright here? This would be used occasionally, relying on lower powered lights for the mainstay. 8' ceiling.

(Ages 7 & 13)

TIA;

Hmm no shouldn't be a problem. If a beam of light is going directly into your eye from the light fixtures natural instinct will close your eyelids automatically or cause you to look away. Looking at the light itself shouldn't do much harm as long as the beams aren't going directly into ur eye.
Ok, thanks guys. I am not so much worried about actual physical damage as I am mismatching lights for this size of room. (should have used Wink instead of Eeker ) -- Big Grin

My daughter thinks that effects like the vertigo is 'the bomb' so I can't back down now. :+)

I am going to start with two lights (a Vertigo type and a dual-Moon type) and then go from there.

There are so many things to consider for the uninitiated- finding the right controller, with relay packs/dimmer packs is overwhelming. It takes an AHA moment to clue us in.

I will be hanging these fixtures from the ceiling and running the power cords into the attic. An analog controller system like the SC-8 is exactly what I need. AHA!

Sounds simple now, but this took quite a while to figure out. DMX is way beyond anything that I need to think about.

I am considering a UV Cannon instead of fluorescent blacklight fixtures. Mainly because I haven't a clue how many fixtures it will take to flood the room. //Babble Mode:OFF

This stuff is addictive!

Try a Minigressor ll, it uses 200 watt lamps which will work out just fine as it runs cooler, and has the same effect as the vertigo. For a black light in a bedroom, I would use the Elation "UV Wash" it uses a 100 watt flourescent lamp and would give a great effect with less wattage.
