If you are working in a hotel ballroom be careful because they have smoke detectors in the HVAC system that are very sensitive and sometimes are forgotten to be shut off. Also you should make sure the venue has hired a fire detail if they are going to be shutting down and smoke detectors.

heck yes! all fire alarms are very sensitve to fog of any kind or any brand. light or heavy smoke it still sets off the fire alarms.

it always has happened with me.
Some fire detection systems in pubs and clubs use detectors that look for "rapid rising temperature"
rather than being obscured by smoke, otherwise they would always be going off with the ammount of cigarette smoke in the room. The boss of the venue should know which type are fitted.
