So im wanting to update to traktor 2 when its released and wondered if i'd be ok to?
Or whether my vms4 will need reconfiguring/updating to do so?

i assume there will be not many mappings out there shortly after the TP2 release... so be prepared to make your own mapping.

Will there be any major changes that could cause issues with the vms4 or will it just be a case of remapping the controller and it will work just the same?

Theres a few things i'll be remapping.
I'm wanting the loop in/out button panels to be 1/2, 1, 2, 4 loops.
...and the buttons below those to be samples 1, 2, 3 with the vinyl button still staying there.

that's one of the good things in traktor... you have real FREEDOM to map whatever suits your needs best! 
I haven't got a clue how to map with traktor though! VDJ Is easy 
traktor can be cumbersome regarding the mapping... TBH, usability is not its main feature.

I'm only wanting to change a few things on your mapping and i'm finding it a nightmare...

* Hot cue button 4 changing from deck A/C [B/D] back to hot cue 4 and the deck switch button to be the pause button.

Well, apart from wanting to change what some of the buttons do. I've now just finished a full 4hr set using the VMS4 with Traktor2 and it's been fine.
