Hi.
Right basically....

One track is playing with a BPM of 120. I load another track to deck two which has a BPM of 135. I press SYNC. The deck two track moves the BPM to 120 (as you would expect), BUT it doesn't hold the sync.

It used to be that after I had pressed sync, if I started deck two playing; it would start it playing at such a time that they would remain in perfect synchronisation.

so - are you using timecode or not?
if using timecode this is absolute normal behavior.

i'm so sorry, but i dont think i understood this section...?! can you say in other words? or record a video? add a scresnshot?
Hahaha. Thank you for the hard facts! The truth is that I do not use it very often, but when I'm in a lazy mood it does help just to be able to press sync and have it all lined up for you.
I will get a video across when Im next home. Infact I'm DJing this weekend so I'll film it
Also..
"not rely on software to do it all for you"...
Ummm.. everyone here is using an AA VMS4. Which works with software... So everyone here is a cheat. At least half of my gigs are on CDJs Smiler Just software is much easier and ends up with just as good (if not better?) mixes and its more fun!

No - the first part of my post refers to the ability to mix. You can use software without relying on it to mix for you.

Users of Serato Scratch Live often have a dig at DJs who use other software because "it mixes for you" but they don't appear to realise that it's optional not compulsory.

@FUFR: *harrumph* let's keep that sexism out. this isnt a boys party here, aight?!

oh, don't be such a tight ass about a joke, Fresh.
we all know why 90% of you guys start DJ'ing in the first place Wink I'm just honest about it.

Let's go back on topic.
Yay DJ Freshfluke Smiler
I will have a video up with the problem I am having on saturday - DJing next on Friday night.

Also, to add to the sync lock argument. Anyone can slide a slider to make the BPMs the same on two decks; that isn't where the DJing skill lies. It lies in keeping people dancing, and doing some clever mixes. All sync button does is save you sliding a slider. I am a drummer and doing a music degree, lining up two tracks isn't hard - but the sync button just saves time Wink

You can see a video of the problem I am having on Saturday!

xx
Oli - I agree with you about the DJing skill, to a certain extent.

As I said in my earlier post though, having the software 'hold your hand' does tend to get frowned upon - and not just by the Serato users.

If you really wanted to 'save time' you could use Mixmeister or Ableton Live, where everything is all nicely lined up and synced to a master tempo, and you just press play and let it run.

But it takes all the fun out of it!

Some DJs do like to be 'hands on' so that the crowd can see that they're not just pressing buttons.
are those beat gridding lines on the wave or are they just high low markers i got the f*$k confused out of me when i first started between the 2 if they are high low markers then im still on the side of the beat gridding cure

easy way to find out is load up the 2 demo tracks that come with traktor as they are most definatly grided if they synk we will know what the problem is
