I'm a mobile DJ working on my light show and would like to reach out for suggestions and how to's. Most of the lights are 'older' but I am really happy with their performance. First the show:

2 stands with 'T' Bars on top

4 ADJ Deluxe Scan 250 (2 each stand which I run in master/slave sound active mode)
2 ADJ Galaxian Lasers (1 each stand also running in master/slave sound active mode)
1 ADJ LED Gobo (i put this on one of the stands)

From time to time I do uplighting with 16 ADJ par 38 cans around the room. Controlled by an elation stage setter 8 and 2 DP415 dimmer packs) These I run with the 'tap' setting on the controller and programmed chases.

So here is what I want to do:
1) When it's time for the dancing during the reception, I typically plug in each tree. Is there a way to use the stage setter to turn them on, considering that I am using the stage setter to run the uplights? What additional equipment would I need to accomplish?
2) I have been running DMX cables between the trees to complete the master/slave. I would like to go 'wireless'
3) I have also been running dmx cables between the controller and the dimmer packs in the room. Would also like to go wireless for this.

I'm assuming that I will need to run 3 or 4 wireless DMX channels/universes. One to control the uplights, one to control the deluxe 250's master/slave and another to control the galaxian master/slave. Would I need another universe to control the on/off switch of the 2 trees?

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. What additional equipment is recommended? I am a 'DMX' novice, but I figure I have at least the building blocks of something.

Thanks much!

I don't use a Scene Setter, nor do I own a DP415 dimmer pack, but I know enough about the DP415, and if need be I can read a manual about the Scene Setter 8. Based on what you're doing, you may wish to consider software. But, right now, I'm not free to read the Scene Setter 8 manual as I am currently in the middle of a few other things.

1: Yes, you can be doing things in a better way to turn your par can trees on/off. It's called using your Scene Setter 8 to control them via DMX and run your DP415 in DMX mode instead of as a programmed pack. You can set your dimmer packs to the same addresses if you want to, which is a good way to make them easier to manage and program. Depending on HOW you use them, nobody will care that they are all the same. In fact, this is a safe bet. It really depends on how you're doing and addressing things.

You can do more than 1 thing at a time. Once you keep that in mind, it's a matter of knowing how to best use your controller for how you need to do things. This may also include the possibility of upgrading to a different console or a software/interface solution.

2: I prefer running DMX cables. Wireless will be expensive. Your choice.

3: Again, still expensive.

The truth about wireless is the following:
You don't need multiple universes, but you WILL need additional gear. One transmitter can broadcast to any receivers within reach. If your wireless transmitter has a DMX out, then you can pass your DMX signal through it and go onto your wired elements.

Right now, you just need to improve your knowledge level. A DMX Universe is a collection of fixtures and devices using the same bank of 512 DMX addresses. You can re-use addresses and leave gaps if you want to. Not all controllers can address ALL the addresses. The DMX Operator, for example, can only address DMX addresses 1-192. Nothing bad there unless you need more addresses than that! The best way for you to improve your knowledge is to NOT be afraid to ask any questions. Then someone can get answers.
