Hi,

Could anybody who uses either a QSD or a SDJ1 suggest the best ways they've found to sort their mp3s on their SD cards? I don't have the hardware myself, but a venue that I occasionally gig at has bought a QSD and I'd like to make use of it.

Do you sort them alphabetically, all in the root folder?

In folders A, B, C... ?

Can you choose to search by title, filename, artist etc or are you limited?

I'd be grateful for any tips :-)

regards,

Domino

Hello Doctor Deejay. I just purchased the SDJ-2 recently, and it's been great, and even greater with an outboard mixer. I manage my SD library with folders like "80's 110-119 BPM", "80's 120-129 BPM", etc. 80's decade of music is very broad and bpm sensitive. I edit the ID3 tag of the mp3 file "bpm_song title" (e.g. 123_Miss Me Blind). Songs of the same folder having the same bpm will line up alphabetically in order. After which, the "124_song title" follows, and so on, and so forth... Therefore you have to manually organize your library thru your PC because SDJ-2 will not do it for you.

Thats very helpfull !
All my mp3s are tagged so only filename, track, artist, genre & bpm are listed.(no album art, additional info, etc)
I`m I getting this right ? ...So if I say start a new folder called - 80s dance onto a SD card on my laptop, open it then add the files I want but move Bpm as 1st colum, then artist, etc ...Will it read increased Bpm towards end on folder ?
Ok I`ve just worked out how to do this Smiler
I used tagtuner to organise my files so its bpm, track, artist in order for sdj-1, To do this I made a new template in rename so I could batch rename every music file in folder.
(example - bpm%B,title%3,artist%1 )
Now all filesnames start with bpm 1st, track, artist.

Now sdj-1 reads filenames as bpm, Track by track, artist by artist in bpm number or alpha.

Many thanks to Arman ...Very helpfull !
