DUUUUUUUDEEEE tottally had the same issue with the green laser. Solution: put in box and store it and never use it. I plan to ship it back for repair eventually, but yea, every single stinger ive seen does not work. Actually it worked on my board the first day but after that, the lead seemed to always randomly blink and strobe, and shapes are not projected like they should have been. It funny though, ive tried this light on 4 boards and it actually works fine on the dmx programmer (mini adj dmx console). I dont understand, im gonna call omni support tomorrow.
I had an issue with the Stinger R. What it was doing is say you have a triangle that is rotating, it would continually reset to its start position after rotating about 30-50*. Very twitching looking animations. When I would assign it to channel 1, everything worked. It didnt matter if I had other DMX devices in the path or not.
twitch and reset = still messed up. Yea, the light kinda works to an amature programmer. However, there shouldn't be any twitch. Send it in and get a new one. There should be no twitch, and the patern should always work. I might call if i were you. The patern should always be able to completely rotate and not restart the rotation until it goes 360 degrees' there for apearing like a full continuous rotation. Lemme know what u decide to do. u might notice if i u unplug the dmx cable once u set it on a pattern, the twitch will go away, there is twitch as long as the DMX cable is pluged in.... seems lame to me if the proccess for use is to choose your patern and then unplug dmx for accurate output.... call it in. Thanks for keepin this topic going! i like talking about this and how it doesn't work. I think 50% of these omni lazers are bust out of the box... and alot of people dont know what to expect outta these lights so they dont even notice the twich, its pretty sad. ha ha
Actaully I just took mine back and got something else. It may have been my DMX controller that I was using (Berhinger at the time, I have since moved to the Operator Pro and now to the Show Designer 2D Smiler ).

But yes, if you put it on channel 909 (sound activated mode) it worked fine. I called them and they were very helpful actually. I was going to get their engineer on the phone and he was going to set up a DMX controller and the same laser and talk me through it. I was having an issue where the X and Y axis adjustments did nothing as well as the twiching I mentioned above. I had the option to return it for store credit so I did and grabbed another pocket scan and a few other goodies...
Yea I think its the best until you start to get into ******'s Waxxyz. Its in a lot of ways better than their Xciter too, but that unit has a some features that SD doesn't. Most can be programed through other ways (and usually faster too). I didnt like the 6 shows that the operator pro gives. I was trying to use the board in a way is wasn't geared towards. I want to set up a show per song for a band. The SD does lack a master dimmer though. That gets a little tuff at times. Oh! Here is the beauty of the SD, there are presets that you use as building blocks. Anything can be in there. Say I position 2 DJ scans on either side of the singer's head. I can use this preset in say 10 different shows. I store just the positions so I can later add any color/gobo I want in the scene. Then when we get to the new venue, I call up that preset, adjust the light to the new position because no 2 stages are the same, and every show now has the correct position for the singer. It also saves memory doing it that way. You get over 4000 scenes, 1100 chase and shows. Plus you can hook up a keyboard which is helpful since you can name all your fixtures, scenes, etc. They have a fixture maker too, so I can tell it what value the colors change for channel 3 with my pocket scans, so I just use the wheel and click from White to Green to Blue and the DMX value will jump from 1 to 27 to 36... then name the gobos and do the same. You can download the manual to see what it offers. I got the SD 2D so I have the diskdrive on the back. Get this one cause you can use a floppy to load new fixtures, updates, save and backup the entire memory, etc. Its the best piece of gear I have by far.
