splitting a DMX signal

anyone know what happens if you split a DMX signal using an XLR splitter? I have to go up two separate trees but the both trees are in a DMX chain......I hate going up one and back down then up to the other. I'd rather just split the signal and send it up each tree.....I wonder if anything strange will happen

Yes - Strange stuff will happen for sure.

Look into getting a "True" DMX splitter box. That might help you!

Look into the Elation DMX Branch 4. It will split one input to four outputs. I personally own that model and it has worked quite well so far. Just dont use an XLR Y-adapter.
