Sound sensitivity for vertigo led

I bought a used Vertigo LED and a used Dual Gem LED a few weeks ago. I am going to use them in my home as a "dance room" for my kids.

While playing with the lights, I have noticed the Vertigo takes alot of bass to activate the lights while the Dual Gem will activate at much lower levels. When sitting side by side, the Vertigo will actually stop lighting while the Gem keeps going.

I have checked the mic on the Vertigo and adjusted its sensitivity knob and all checks out okay. Tapping the mic with my finger will trigger the lights, so I think the mic is functional.

Is this "normal" for the Vertigo and is there anything I can do to make it react more like the Gem?
