yes i believe that you need to buy a power outlet with surge protection like the monster cable av600, if yoo only have a limited power outlets.. it happened to me once in a gig, all of the equipments (lights, speakers, laptop and my controller) were only plugged into one regular outlet that time.. then when i tested it for another gig, i plugged them separately. then everythings back to normal.. since then i havent experience any reset problems
So what's the solution to this problem...mine worked without any problems for 2 months...now all of a sudden after practising for about 2 hours, the VMS4 seems to hang after using multiple or chained effects..no sound output and neither do the controlls work..the leds on the rotary knobs are also still on.. the play button will turn itself off as well as the cue point buttons..traktor is still up and running although without sound output. I havent change any setting since or updated my laptop and always have wifi or bluetooth and virus scanner off when using traktor and the unit.

I've tried uninstalling AD asio drivers and re-installing them..cleaned up the system, defrag the harddisk..cleaned the register before reinstalling but problem still occurs.. any help before i shoot of to the AD support?
I have my latency set to 6ms which has been no issue at all for since I bought it 2 months ago..please don't give me the crap about having to buy a seperate surge power because why would it work for 2 months and now all of a sudden it doesn't.

I have a Toshiba sattelite A500
Intel Core2 DUO 2.1 Ghz processor
4Gb RAM 500GB HDD
windows 7 premium 64 bits
But like I said before everything worked flawlessly for the past 2 months so naturally I would exclude the laptop causing the prob unless it's a USB port thats malfunctioning..I'll try connected the unit to the other USB ports on my lap to see if its any diffrence.
You need to have your PC and VMS4 plugged into a separate surge protector that is plugged into a separate outlet on the wall.

If it's all plugged into one surge protector spikes/drains and interference will go down the USB line when other devices (lights, amps, fog machines, A/C units, etc) turn on and trip up the VMS4. This is a common issue with any USB device, some are just more prone to the issue.

Get an extension cord, a good surge protector and plug your PC and VMS into their own outlet and you'll be fine. You never know what else is on the circuit your using at a gig so be prepared. It must be a surge protector with filtering, not a power strip. I've experimented with everything, including USB filters and this is the way to do it.

Thank you for you feedback, much appreciated. I've read this in another post as well but didn't want to believe this was the problem since I am using both the laptop an VSM4 at home on the same wall outlet for the past 2 months without any issues untill this problem occurred.
Nevertheless I'll give it a try and see how it rolls.
Thank God things are back to normal after I've changed Keylock settings from "HQ" to "ECO". Been testing for over a week now and it doesn't matter whether my VSM4 is plugged to the same wall outlet or a different outlet anymore so i guess Keylock settings must have been resource hungry and somehow affected the VMS4 in conjuction with Traktor.
Anyway..happy to get back into mixing again and thank you guys for all your feedback Smiler. Cheers!
