In my opinion, that's not an "apple to apple" comparison. I'm not knocking ADJ or Chauvet, as I own and like gear from both.

Keep in mind I am primarily a live sound production company.

I use ParCans more for lighting up the stage and musicians. These are more of a wash-type fixture. I have some wash-type color changers that I will start using for this application as well.

As far as the Starburst is concerned, I looked at the video to get an idea of what they do. Now, while I wouldn't buy them, I'd can say they looked interesting. Personally, I'd go for the "Tracer" system, mainly since I like that spread better. ADJ makes an equivalent, but I can't locate it right now.

Now, if I bought the Tracer system, I'm project that from the a truss way up on the back of the stage through to the front of the stage with a hazer to highlight those beams. If I were to use the Starburst, I'd most likely have that on my front of stage truss shooting into the audience. Why would I choose the Tracer? I like that pattern that I typically see production companies waste a few bands of Par64's on to do the same thing. I do smaller events(mostly), so a couple of Tracers would give me the desired effect, only I'd match the lenses, such as an all red one, all white one, or most likely I'd just go all white. But again, preferences of mine, so take with a grain of salt.

Sure, you could go multiple ParCans(gel'ed) or a color changing LED ParCan, but to me, aimed into the audience: BORING. But that is opinion. I think the colors on the Starburst hitting the dance floor would be more fun and higher energy than ParCans going off all over the place. With fog or haze, that would be much cooler.

It's not a matter of "which is best", I think the question is more "which is going to be a better fit for what I am expecing to use these lights for".
