It seems that my decision has backfired to buy the vms4 because it was cheaper than the Traktor s4 and the features seemed to be better.

I'm a full time professional club DJ, work 4nights a week and have used my vms4 since March when buying it.

As of last night, i now have 2 faders that no longer work (the volume doesn't work at all!), a dodgy usb socket that sometimes cuts out for a fraction of a section resetting my software and stopping the music and an LED that hasn't worked since the first day i opened it!.

Now as i'm a full time DJ, i can't afford to be sending an item to be fixed without replacement - something AA and DJKit who i purchased it from cannot offer.

As i lost a gig last night due to the music stopping 10 times, I'll now be sending it to be fixed then selling it on - and i'll never buy from AA again. Absolutely shocking equipment after just 4months use.

well, if you dont send your device to ADJ, they cant obviously help you, although they easily would!

if you are a professional dj, i wonder that you dont have any spare device for the time... or maybe some DJ friends have...

i still own some analog mixers and old midi devices i could use in case anything happens...

i'm really sorry that your VMS had issues (which is not the normal case) but you cant blame ADJ that they wont help.
Freshfluke, i have my serato sl1 box still as backup but i haven't used Serato for a year so now wouldn't have any saved cue points or anything. (I use Traktor now).

I also sold my last midi controller as i didn't expect a professional product to completely bomb after just 4months use.

I will be sending the vms4 back to be fixed and then i'll sell it on as i just can't trust it anymore.

i can only say that this is a rare case... too bad it happened to you!
so sad to hear that... you really have bad luck.
in german we say you got a "monday's device".

given the amount of devices sold, this happens to only a very small percentage, especially with a plethora of different issues as you have. obviously, someone had a real bad day when assembling the device! :-S
Most of the issues that DJ's have had are issues with set up, drivers and mapping to their software and we are able to solve those 99.9% by working with them. Most of these issues are the same as any other DJ controller. The truly sad part is you don't people don't post when their issues are resolved on the message board.

On your issues, are those with the OG software or with a different software?

The first step is to test the unit completely with the OG software to determine is there is an actual "Issue" with the VMS4.

Thanks
Thanks for your reply AAF1, i'm not trying to sound sarcastic with the following reply.

Firstly, i'm a full time professional DJ of 11years so i know equipment, how to look after it, how to set it up and how to fix it.

I've been a laptop DJ for 4years now and have never had any issues i haven't been able to fix.

These issues are the same on Traktor 1, Traktor 2, Virtual DJ Pro and using as a standalone mixer.
sorry bro, but you really should not have bought the VMS4 so soon. perhaps you could have waited a bit until they worked all their kinks. But it doesnt only happen to AA. My brother replaced his VCI bacause his buttons were faulty and that was a $800 unit. Hebought the VMS's counterpart from denon and is having issues with it as well. Sorry to say, but that is what you get for jumping into the water too soon. Remember that most products nowadays are made in China and their work is not the greatest ( to put it at best). Good ol' turntables with midi controllres for me thanks, and no sir, no problems here.

good luck with resolving these issues, hope it works out in the end for you!
I've contacted AA who passed me onto DJKit who it was purchased from. They can't do anything for me unless it's sent back which could take a while to fix (understandable but useless to me).

I'm on the latest firmware and it's the same whether i'm using traktor pro, vdj pro or using as a standalone mixer.
I can relate to your problems, I sold my VMS4 after a month due to technical issued I couldn't cope with.

You say your a peofessional and using it 4 nights a week - I cannot believe you don't have any backup kit even if it is only an audio source that plugs in on a spare channel. You should always plan for a breakdown. You should always have a backup plan.

What happens if any piece of kit fails:
- if the PC crashes/fails - have a spare audio source plugged into the mixer
- if the mixer/midi controller fails - usb sound card to connect the audio line out into the amps
and also apply the same principle to each of your leads.

This may mean you need a few extra bits and pieces, and if you need to use them it may be not be so easy to work and you may have a reduced performance, but you are contracted to provide a service/show - you need to deliver on it. A simple bit of planning WILL at some point save your reputation.

This is especially important if you end up with a repeating problem as you found on your evening.
Ok i am professional DJ and have been since the mid eighties. For the the last 8 years i have been using PCDJ FX VRM and earlier this year i decided to start using Virtual DJ so i borrowed a friends set up to check the program out, loved it. My next problem was which workstation. I went for the VMS4 which arrived 4 weeks ago and i just love it. I work 3 nights a week and have now been using the VMS4 for 9 gigs, this is where my disappointment starts, on the first gig two LED's in the left ladder have stopped working. From day 1 the buttons for the right player are flush with the top plate unlike the left player buttons which are proud. As the weeks have gone by the fader markings have come off and the silver paint boarder below the crossfader has worn away. My last mixer was a Q spand and it is 4 years old and it looks as good as the day i brought it so what has gone wrong with the quality since i brought the q spand ?. My dealer has told me he will not be able to change it until October at the earliest. I love the VMS4 but for a new product that has just cost me nearly £400.00 i have a unit which looks like its been on the road for years, the words QC and cheap paint job come to mind. Looking forward to the PLASA show may just take it with me.
Hi The dealer says there will be no more units available to him until October so no exchange is possible. I did mention all of the info about the led's and the buttons when i requested the imp matcher's for the mic inputs. I was told and i quote please contact your dealer for further help with this. I am fourtunate as i do have other equipment available to me to use so an exchange via american audio would be fine but in saying this the unit works faultlessly and would one with good buttons and led's not sufffer from a more serious fault sorry i have read this forum and it does look like a horror story with the VMS4 in the staring roll! Could the paint issue be fixed with a custom skin ?
Same situation here. Mine has been sent back - no fix available and the vms4 stopped production until the new version has been finished.

I can only assume there were so many issues with the first version that AA have decided to put in better parts hence why it will be alot more expensive on the re-release.

I've also been told i have to wait until October for my replacement.

I'll be selling this straight on as i don't feel i can trust AA equipment anymore. Very sad, as i LOVED the controller.
Its so true the VMS4 has been nothing but trouble for me 2!!! The 2 mic inputs never worked, the headphone output never worked, bulbs went after 2 days, all markings - volume levels, crossfader went after round 2 weeks use, what i thought was very very bad sound output now seems to be that the RCA and XLR outputs are damaged too it will only play on right or left speakers never on both. Every input and output on the device is broken!!! I use the VMS4 with VDJ 7 Pro on Windows 7 and it works well most the time apart from all them faults. only time the music would cut out is if u do too much at once it crashes and the music stops and you cant use that deck again until you reset the software!!! Just not worth the hassle!! I will never buy from AA and would never advice anyone to again!! its been an absolute nightmare from day 1 and the support team were no help what so ever as well!!!!!
I won't deny, i LOVED using my VMS4 and recommended it to everyone after my first months use. I couldn't believe the quality item i'd bought for such a low price.

After sending my controller back to the store i'd bought it from - 3 months later i'm still waiting on receiving a replacement back (which will be the 4.1 as the 4 isn't being made anymore).

After all of this and the fact i've now invested alot in a high spec high end controller - i'm still looking forward to receiving my 4.1 in November (4 months waiting).

Disgusting service which is sad, very sad. As the VMS4 is an AMAZING controller with LOTS of potential but cheap parts killed it.

I will be selling my VMS4.1 when i receive it if anyone is interested. £350.

not so many - and those who were mentioned on the adj forums have been adressed in the vms4.1 version.

besides that AFAIK it will cost only little more than the original vms4.

a bit of an early bird's risk :-/
i think it's good that they dont continue manufacturing with less good hardware than the new vms4.1 but of course, this will leave some users alone, which is i'm absolutely sorry for. :-(

for sure you have to send in your device first before getting a new one, as everywhere.

regarding a date for stock: still dont have it. i told you i would post it here if i get it.
Bye bye VMS4, i've sold it and i'm looking forward to the vestax VCI-400.The guy who has him now send me allready mails about tsi & trakor and settings for virtualDJ, i've told him good luck about his searching on this site and the virtualDJ site. so much troubles on this forum, but less solutions... however DJ Freshfluke did all her best to help people here. ADJ please wake up, there are other brandswith better service.
