Would it be possible to use DMX to 1/4" convertors for my Snap Shot II's, and just program them to another Pocket Scan's address +4 (shutter/strobe channel) to use it with my Automate/DMX controller until I can afford an actual DMX controller.

I have a good feeling about programming it, but if I hit the blackout button on the Automate, will that send a signal of 0 to all channels, or will it just isolate certain channels (color, gobo, pan, tilt) and send 0 to those channels?

In a nut shell if I hit the blackout key on my Automate to get the Snap Shots solo will it send a signal fo 0 to all channels, or could I use them with the strobe fuction and have the Pocket's blacked out?

I don't think you understand. The convertors are made to convert a DMX signal into the format in which the strobe light can recognize. They are not made by ADJ, obviously. Their sole purpose is to allocate the analog strobe lights one channel of DMX.
I know you cannot just by a cable type changer, as if we were talking about audio and have it work, the convertor is an actual interface convertor.
