I have owned a set of Simple Scans for a couple of years and honestly have only used them a dozen times or so...I find them inconvenient for my application.
I play in a geezer bar band. I got the lights for "special events" like New Year's Eve and high school reunions and corporate functions. We wanted to use them to build "excitement" (...sounds like a car commercial from the 70s...wide track excitement...sorry, senior moment.)
As I was trying to say, the salesman told me that we should not use an "on/off" switch like the ADJ SC8FC (Actually, I have an on/off foot switch device that has Edison plugs to control different devices I had though about using.)
The salesman stressed that the hand held push button controller with the Simple Scans allowed the lamp to black out but the fan in the device would continue to cool.
So, I have to juggle playing bass guitar and controlling this hand held push button that gets in the way....and that is why the lights don't get used often.
My question for ADJ support, or any knowledgeable user...
Is there a reason that I could not use a 3 wire jumper with TRS plugs...and build or buy a small "guitar amp" style of footswitch that would control the ADJ Simple Scans properly?
Or, better yet, does ADJ make such a foot control device for the Simple Scans, or for another ADJ product that would work in this application?
If I cannot control these lights more simply then I will probably sell them and buy something "simple".
If it helps explain my "style", I bought two T16F controllers and connect them Master/Slave to control my Par38 while performing and playing bass. It is "adequate" for what I needed.
We are playing small to medium local redneck/blue collar saloons with 75-200 people. We mix sound from on stage most of the time and I always run the lights myself.
I am too stinking busy doing that stuff to keep messing with the hand held push button Simple Scan controller....aahhhug!
But, I love the effect they produce. And they crowd loves them...so, I would love to keep them if I can work this out.
If the above is not practical, could someone direct an old fat bass player to a classified other than e-Bay and Harmony Central that specializes in DJ gear?
