Hi guys!

I threw a birthday party last weekend - it went really well.

I had mostly American DJ lights (and a couple of ch***et lights but I hope you can forgive me for that, hehe).

I built my own 12-channel controller (just on/off) and wrote my own custom software to pseudo-intelligently change lights on beats and in breaks and stuff.

Then, I recorded a video clip Smiler . It's 2.5mb, a minute long.

Please let me know what you think.

Nice work!!! I like the multi color lights off the mirror ball - whether intentional or just from intels hitting it. Nothing more boring than some moron who just puts a white pin on the ball and lets it run all night! I was at a wedding a while back and the DJ had a weak white pin about 6 inches from the ball - which he left on the whole night! The pin was so close to the ball that the reflected light raced across the walls at like 90 miles an hour! Placement of the pin gave absolutely no effect on the dance floor. The rest of his "light show" was some small pars which were constantly on chase and an agressor he kicked on now and then. Thank god he had some nice ***'s for the sound system - it sounded nice. His light show wasn't worth the electricity it burned!
Keep up the good work. It's nice to see a good show and not somebody just playing tunes with some blinking lights!
Leif that is an awesome lightshow.....I'm impressed. I have one question but more of an observation, I noticed on the video that all the people on the dancefloor were all guys.....was that gig perhaps one of those non-average parties?? Either way an excellent show of lighting. Well done!

ROQ out
Thanks, guys! Smiler

The different color pin spots were certainly no accident, they're all driven off the beat detector code I wrote.

I also computer-controlled the fog machine - I bought a midi cable (5-pin DIN) and a 120v relay at radioshack - cut the midi cable in half, measured the original FogStorm remote with an ohm meter, and made the relay short the correct pins on the fogstorm. So, any time the relay gets 120v power, there's fog Smiler . DMX?? DMX??? We don't need no steeeenking DMX :-D.

3 seconds on, 60 seconds off seemed to be a nice blend for my room. I absolutely LOVE the FogStorm 1200 - that thing is soooo powerful.

And very good observation, DJ ROQ - if the camera had been in the opposite corner you would have seen the rainbow lights on the wall :-)

Interestingly, here in the bay area, it's almost the norm, heh heh Smiler
