AND WASNT THERE A MIDDLE UPDATE BETWEEN 1.08 AND THE 2.14 DOWNLOAD

Do you have the manual, if not down load the manual it not that hard.
ok just download the firmware then, connect Show designer 1, to your pc, ensure you have a null modem cable, the cable must be transpose, for it to work.
while powering up press and hold the menu and erase button, click send file on pc. update will begin. once completed turn off SD1. you just updated your sd1.

Null modem cables are easy to obtain. You can go with an adaptor or a cable with the pin rolls built in.
Worse case is you might have to order one from an electronics store or via mail order. Just ensure you order the correct ends on the cable and/or null modem adaptor. I've got a bunch of 25 pin and a few 9 pin adaptors.
