I am new to setting up lighting and then controlling it using a Show Designer. I want to dump memory, manipulate itFrownerchange a scene, change a chase, change a lights fixture number, etc) and then reload the dump back into memory. To do that I need the structure of the Show Designer memory and dump file so I can write an application to make the changes and to add light programs. Can anyone help? Cool

My question is: why do you want to dump the memory when every single thing you need to do is an operational feature of the Show Designer?

You can edit scenes, chases, and fixture numbers without dumping the memory at all. Overwriting and editing is a handy function that I use at every show to adjust my presets and modify scenes and chases.

Just my initial thoughts. Sorry I don't know the memory's specifics.

Thanks for your response. If I am changing the fixture numbers of my lights and replacing some of the lights with new lights, then I thought making the changes in the dump file would be easier. For example. I have 6 Power Spot 750's and the fixture numbers right now are 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, & 12. I want to make them fixture #'s 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. 5 to stay at 5, 6 to become 7, 9 to become 6, 10 to become 8, 12 to become 9, and 11 to become10. I thought this would be better done in the dump file. What do you think.
Ken on their forum would be the one to ask, since he wrote the software. The ShowDesigner is kind of unique in how it structures fixtures internally. All scenes/chases/shows refere to fixtures not channels like other boards. So you can freely change channels on fixtures and everything still works, but changing a fixture to a new fixture number is a different story (which is what your experiencing now). I added 8 octopod 80's and ended up putting them together on a different row than I wanted too because of this problem, but you could just use the fixture group option if you have to scatter them around a bit.
