show designer automation

I am pretty sure the Show Designer has a built in microphone for audio sync. So if the music is loud enough it should pick up the beat f the music.

You can use the midi feature to trigger lights. One way of doing this is mapping a keyboard and every time you hit specific mapped notes they trigger an action. In this fashion it doesn't really have anything to do with an actual musical piece. The keyboard is used as a programming aid. Then when you play back the actual music track your light show goes off according to the midi you programmed in. By programming this way you can have a specific action for specific notes or passages. The show designer is my controller of choice, and trust me I have loads of choices.

I think the sd1 is the best bang for your buck controller by far.

but i also have never got in to the midi mode yet with it.
i would like to learn loads more.

by the way i think that lsc should have its own website

I love my SD too! GREAT features and capabilities. It also has a good MIDI implementation (e.g. you CAN do programmed fades - something rare to find in most other controllers!). I am struggling to get the midi going on my SD (everything else works but MIDI - maybe I'm doing something wrong!).
I have great plans to fully automate my light show for my band using midi. (We already use sequenced back-up/drum tracks so - in theory! - all I need to do is program a killer light show and call it up via our midi sequences.
The Show Designer is a great controller - I recommend it to everyone!

I also have the Show Designer... fantastic controller. I'd love to learn how to automate the calling of scenes and shows via MIDI.

BTW, those Programmed Fades are one of the main reasons I went with the SD. Now how about some Upfade/Downfade attributes? J/K
