I know this may seem a stupid question but in the UK we have the colour red! I assume in America you don't have red as it's not included in the new X-Scan LED Plus colour plates. I find it a bit strange you can add two yellows and two blues but no red! We resolved the issue by ripping out the yellow gel and putting in a red gel that resolved this irratating problem. Other than that the lights are a breeze to use and thay are as good as our old Martin Lights on the brightness front. Coupled with MyDMX it took me about 30 seconds to get a whole light show up and running that would of taken 7 years with Martin Lightjockey!

Even in my nightclub that is a large old railway arch in London they work very well even with the smoke machine on full!

I just the issues with LED's blowing has been solved.

One thing I can say is that anyone wanted to start on the DMX road should try MyDMX and any of American DJ lights. We had a race in the club to see who could get a lightshow up and running. Me using MyDMX and a X scans and another lighting person using Martin LJ and MX4's. All I can say is that I had set the whole club up in about 5 minutes whilst the other person was still trying to fart around with MLJ 2 hours later!

I last used DMX software in the Showcad days and even I learnt DMX again in about 5 minutes with ADJ/MyDMX.

Can we have a red gel please? Lol!

My experiences are very different. Regardless though, my results are similar to what you're saying.

I started out with nothing, then ended up with a little rig with high-tech FX, simple cans and dimmer packs running off an Elation/ADJ DMX Operator, which even though is a low end/intro level console, has a decent set of features. However, I can't visualize, I have to see things, so making scenes was difficult for me because I'd have to set things up and actually SEE what I was doing. Again, though, keep in mind this is a simple console controller.

Switching to MyDMX wasn't exactly a slow process. I took to it right away. For me, it was quite easy to start doing more complex scenes(such as things using movement in my moving yoke fixtures and other cool color changing effects on other lights). Stuff I could do in MyDMX was simply put, IMPOSSIBLE with my DMX Operator. Even so, my analytical mind can be slow at times dealing with MyDMX.

Of course, I suppose with the right operator and the right console(say, Serra Ava and a Road Hog), I'm sure that individual could come up with great results equally fast. Just the right tools for the right job.

We'll have to wait for someone from support, marketting, R&D or sales to come up with why there is no red on the X-Move LED Plus fixtures. I've been debating a pair of these myself and if I got no red, I can't use them because I absolutely MUST have red on my color wheel.
