Wow. That's some major damage. I can't fathom what would cause that sort of major damage, at least not without totally destroying the unit in the process.
I wonder if someone didn't have the right kind of stand-offs, then re-threaded the openings to the types it had, then turned out that it was too big?

I take it you bought this unit (ab)used?
Units were bought brand new from Guitar Center about 2.5 years ago. Last year at Christmas went to use it at our church. It became old sparky. I put it aside until this week (12-04-08) The standoffs are original as is all parts. The one standoff pushed through the metal chassis hole causing the power supply for the bulb to arch against the metal chassis. I pulled that one out, used a standard transistor insulator, screw and plastic spacer to reaffix to the chassis. These standoffs are substandard and I can see a tremendous fire hazard in the near future. The end that mounts into the P.C. Board is good, it is end that mounts into the chassis that is poorly made. I had heard that AMDJ had some form of massive recall on a series of lights but have not been able to find any info.
